I draghi sono una delle creature piu' belle e allo stesso tempo inquietanti della storia.In Cina e Giappone, il drago è benefico e porta fortuna e prosperità ed è celebrato come uno dei più potenti talismani del bene, è più simile ad un serpente senza ali, ma libero nell'aria, si dice che porti la pioggia e quindi la fertilità e che abbia creato i corsi d'acqua.In Europa invece il drago è tutt'altra storia, creatura astuta e maligna, avida, portatrice di distruzione, malattie morte e carestia, inoltre è conosciuto come ladro di ricchezze sulle quali costruisce la sua tana. Insamma, è una animale cattivo.
Ha il corpo di un serpente, comprese le scaglie, sputa fuoco, tanto fuoco, ha le ali molto simili a quelle dei pipistrelli.
Nei paesi cristianizzati il drago è un nemico di Dio, basta pensare alla famosa storia di San Giorgio l'uccisore di draghi.In tutta la storia dei popoli il drago era venerato o comunque temuto e utilizzato come amuleto, soprattutto dai guerrieri, basti pensare ai celti che dipingevano i loro scudi ed i loro stendardi con immagini di draghi, come anche i romani e non andando troppo indietro nel tempo basti pensare ai cosiddetti cacciatori francesi di Napoleone che si facevano chiamare "dragoni" per sottolineare la loro crudeltà . Nella mitologia esistono draghi di ogni tipo e colore, vi sono i draghi d'acqua che vivono negli abissi, i draghi d'aria, muniti di ali che portano la pioggia, e i famosi draghi di fuoco.
