When the road calls your name ...

About Me

Hey, pal! The eyes are up HERE! Oh, sorry ... I was channeling my wife, Cookie, for a moment!Anyway, I'm a freelance writer. I've had three one-act plays produced, one sold (just before the company went under ... sigh!), a ten-minute play making the rounds, and another awaiting a venue.Since the beginning of this millennium, I've been a proud interview transcriptionist for TwoMorrows Publishing. My work has appeared in BACK ISSUE Magazine, ALTER EGO, COMIC BOOK ARTIST, DRAW!, THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR as well as the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE DVD sets, CHARLTON SPOTLIGHT, Comicon/The Pulse and THE COMICS'S JOURNAL. I've also written ad/promo copy for print, radio, and TV for The Book Nook, PBS, CB Comics Plus, and Coca-Cola.I'm also involved with CAPA-Alpha, the premiere comic book Amateur Press Alliance founded by Dr. Jerry Bails. In fact, I was Central Mailer for 2000 and 2001, with a couple of years of being the Emergency Central Mailer. They're a good group of people, I've gotta say.My articles have appeared in BACK ISSUE, THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR, WHOTOPIA, and KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE, among other places. And there's more to come because a resume left unpadded is a tragic thing.Future projects: more articles, more plays, and an online comic that I will offer in evidence that there can be an all-ages super-team comic that insluts no-one's intelligence. Hold me to that promise, okay?My greatest accomplishment is wooing and winning my wife, Cookie. We live in Illinois, no kids (except me), no pets (except me), a love of food and travel and storytelling.Keep watching this space ... THE PLAY'S THE "BLING", the mini-series. Two scripts are done!*** Oh, since I've started on My Space, I'm delighted to have YOU as my friend and I've already begun friendships with people who would have otherwise have been total strangers. Now, they are welcome parts of my life. However, if your opening message wants to "share the joys" of your newfound ability to work at home, overcome (or indulge) your sexual inadequacies, or require someone to download a strange program, don't be surprised if you're served a heapin' helpin' of "There's the road" with a side of "Butt-slapping door". But if you've got something REALLY cool, I'll share. The judge's decision is final and frequently harsh. Think Judge Dredd coming down from a caffeine high. ***Otherwise, do your best to have an excellent day! It's the quickest way to annoy someone who needs annoying badly.
How evil are you?

Who wants to see me die?

Don't get morbid on me, people.  Then again, don't get your hopes up, either!  :D Anyway, after writing for the stage and then getting my feet wet with some improv and directing trainin...

Rebuilding Health

I was happy going to I-Power to work on fitness and nutrition. I felt pretty good most of the time. Unfortunately for way too long I had to put up with pain from hea...

Things that make one's head explode (an ongoing series)

Well, it's no secret that I'm a fan of irony (EYE-RON-NEE!  EYE-RON-NEE!), the playwright's friend.  And if look around carefully, there's stuff that'll make you think, make you go "dubya-te...

The best things overheard ...

The world of role playing gaming has proven a wonderful distraction, some of my best friends, my wife, and even a little income. But one of my numerous collections happens to be quotations.  Need...

It's only hot ink forced into my flesh, nothing more!

See that Superman shield on my left wrist?  Who'd have thought that a reasonably conservative fella would have issues -- nay, VOLUMES -- with getting an honest-to-Kat VonD tattoo?  Yeah, pro...

The Intro and the Outro

You know, I'm editing a transcript that was due three weeks ago, waiting to start writing half a dozen (seriously!) film scripts based on a recently-produced play, get my act together on a couple of c...
