Semra Kurutaç studied at the University of Wales Cardiff with Russell Brandon and in 2002 graduated with an MA in Performance Studies.
Semra began working with the six piano ensemble pianocircus in July 2002 and with them has performed in venues across Europe and South America. pianocircus are currently Associate Artists at Brunel University in London and regularly hold composition and performance workshops with the postgraduate students. Their most recent project involves a collaboration with the drummer Bill Bruford with music written by Colin Riley. Please visit our new myspace page to hear us.
In addition to her work with pianocircus Semra performs in various ensembles run by Cardiff based composer Charlie Barber . In February 2008 she will begin a new project with Charlie, Bali to New York .
Semra also performs with fellow pianocircus pianist Kate Halsall and together they form the piano duo duoDorT .
Semra has worked as Repetiteur for the Welsh National Youth Opera and has appeared as concerto soloist with several orchestras including Manchester Symphonia with whom she made her concerto debut at the Bridgewater Hall in July 1997.
