I'm lauren rae

remember me as a time of day.
I am second year student at Memphis College of Art pursuing a BFA with a concentration in Drawing Illustration. I curate a small gallery called the Brode, located in the school, with monthly exhibitions of student work. I'm active in Student Alliance, and I'm currently in the process of founding a Student Advocates for the Arts chapter. I am the resident writer for MCA's monthly publication, the Black & White, and as of recently, I'm attempting to have my work published elsewhere. In the meantime, I rant and critique in my blog .I am also part of the thinktank of Rozelle Artists Guild . We're a group of artists and musicians attempting to purchase a warehouse at the corner of 822 Rozelle. Hopefully one day, with the aid of grants, it will be a non-profit creative arts guild, with functioning facilities for photographers, painters, writers, musicians, theatre acts, ceramicists, graphic designers, and sculptors; a hub for the creative-minded. Currently we are putting on a series of fundraising concerts to raise awareness and money for repairs. I'm some variation of an artist, and I like to get paid to do the stuff you can't or don't want to do yourself. Lately I've been doing caricatures at parties, but in the past, I've been hired to illustrate tattoos, digitally edit pictures, photograph weddings, paint guitars, draw portraits, stencil shirts, design quite a bit of local band merchandise, and put together my fair share of concert flyers. I'm a whiz at Photoshop and I've got a lot of free time. You can browse my gallery:
