About Me

My name is Lisa, the founder of Open Mic Magazine. Open Mic Magazine is an .. magazine focused on giving recognition to talented up and coming artists, exposure to cool spots and venues, as well as providing reviews on CDs and independent or studio films that send a message. The magazine is also a medium for people to express their opinions on important social issues, with the intent of bringing about awareness and change. Music:

Where do I start...i'm a music whore. I love everything from Dr. Dre to The Roots to Etta James to Pearl Jam to Kelly Clarkson. Yes, Kelly Clarkson.

Movies:

Psychological thrillers and comedies mostly. I can appreciate a good documentary too.

Books:

I'm more of a magazine, short story person, but when I do pick up a book it's usually some sort of autobiography or other non fiction thing.

Heroes:

Missy Elliott for holding it down behind the scenes and in front as a female in the music business, Russell Simmons, any artist who inspired my love of music. Anyone who stands up for what they believe in and is a leader, not a follower, and especially all my close friends who know all about me and still love me.
