About Me

Explain why you decided to produce tracks and make beatsThe passion for making music was always there, I just didn’t have the proper outlet. I used to sing, but that passion started to diminish, but my passion for writing and composing increased and who better to compose a song to my own works than myself? As I later found out, the niche for female “producers” and “beatmakers” was very large, but not being represented enough, So I figured I can be the one to bust the door down for other women who are doing the same thing.Who were your influences, or better yet, what producers did-do you like?I look up to people like Patrice Rushen, 9th Wonder, Dr Dre. Im really feeling people like Kanye West, The Alchemist and Dj Premier. I also look up to Missy Elliott as well because she does a bit of production herself.Have you had any offers to buy any of your Myspace Tracks?Yes I have had offers but I have felt like my work was not that great enough for people to buy. I’m always keen on perfecting my craft. When I feel like it is, then I will sell them. The Material on your page is very usable on somebody’s song. Etc. How concerned are you about someone stealing your music. The reason I ask is a producer by the name of Var-EZ from ESPN 2 Network had a beat taken illegally from his Myspace page and used on a DVD broadcast on You Tube..”What really Happened to Busta’s man Izzy” I came across the video and let Var-Ez know about what went downIm concerned about it, but that’s very ignorant for people to be stealing other people’s work off their page. If you want to use any of my work feel free to contact me!Whats some of the industry feedback as well as Mypsace on your Tracks?I’ve gotten great feedback on myspace from all sorts of people. But it would be great to get industry feedback as well. Can you tell what type of equipment you useWell, im a fruityloops fiend, so right now Im using FruityLoops XXL and Soundforge. I would like to expand my artillery though get get some better equipment, but I feel that im good at what I do with it and it works for me. Some people may think that me using FL is corny, but I don’t think it matters what kind of equipment you use, but how the person is using it and their emotions they put into everything they make. How do you feel about Sampling? Do you use SamplesSampling is ok, but the key is not to overdo it. Yes I use samples, but I like to make original compositions without them every now and then. How long does it take to make and produce a track? That depends on how I’m feeling the track and how complicated id like it to be, If its simple, then a couple hours. If its more intricate then I like to take a couple days to put everything together. When you make a track do you work with the Artist as you go along or do you give him the track directly and he does it by himself?I’ll have someone listen to the track and if they like the way it sounds then they do their thing on it. Id like to work side by side with an artist and feed of each other’s energy as well one day. What kinds of challenges do you face with getting your music heard? Well the greatest obstacle is myself. I have to tell myself I’m good enough!, but I just have to put myself out there more I guess. Whats the easiest genre to produce for..R&B, Rap, Pop etc? WhyWell I love R&B and Hip Hop, but I think R&b is easier to do since im such an emotional person. I’m not a “hardcore” kind of hip hop person so it’s harder for me to produce. I like complex melodies and harmonies in my music. What other skills do you need besides producing to get ahead in this business?I believe you need good communication skills and savvy business sense to get ahead. How much time do you spend during the week making beats?Usually 3-4 times a week, since I have a family to manage as well lolDo you have any legal assistance in getting your work distributed, published etc?Not at the moment , but I would love the assistance! Anyone out there who wants to help me get out there give me a shout! You’re from Canada..any obstacles for you besides our dumb ass president Dubya BUSH?LOL! Well no I don’t think it matters where I come from as long as people are feeling the music. People may think my gender is an obstacle, but I don’t see it as one as long as my music speaks for itself. Are you really going to Japan? Why and what for..LOL I’;m already here and loving it. I think the exposure to another culture will influence my music and maybe someone here will like what they hear! You’re married w/kids..is that hard on you working with your beats? My husband is very supportive of my endevours, He gives me insight into what I should do or what direction I should take when im making a beat, and he’s my promoter as well so I love it. My kids love to hear my music as well they dance to it when they hear it so that’s a good thing.
