About Me

..
If the amount of ring tones distilled out of dance tracks is anything to go by, Nic Chagall is quite easily one of the most popular producers around. It is a mere illustration of the huge popularity of Nic Chagalls take on dance music. Known as the foreman of Cosmic Gate (in association with DJ Bossi), Chagall is a prolific producer with hundreds quality tracks to his name. Many of which can boast huge popularity in dance music scene the globe over. Nic Chagall is now being recognised as one of the most influential producers around, while making inroads into the deejay scene with superb sets on every continent.
Nic Chagall (Claus Terhoeven) may be known for his work as the front man of the hugely successful formation Cosmic Gate. No trance-orientated DJ set anywhere between the late nineties and now, would have been complete without the sounds of Cosmic Gate. Original productions such as “The Drums”, “Exploration of Space”, “Raging feat. Jan Johnston” or the unforgettable “Fire Wire”, where the staple of many deejay set. Cosmic Gate just released their third artist album “Earth Mover” on Black Hole Recordings, including the future-classic singles “Should’ve Known”, “Analog Feel”, their big tune from 2005 “I feel Wonderful” with Jan Johnston and many brandnew tracks f.e. featured by Tiff Lacey, Jan Johnston or Wippenberg Today, Cosmic Gate are rated number 23 in the online directory of the worlds leading deejays at DJlist.com whilst remaining a permanent fixture, positioned for three consecutive years inside the DJ Mag top 100. The recent Back 2 Back Vol. 2 mix album (Black Hole Recordings 2005) was released worldwide to cope with the huge demand.
Driving force of Cosmic Gate has always been Nic Chagall. So it is no small wonder that Nic has returned to his roots a solitary producer once more. However, without severing the ties with DJ Bossi, since the Cosmic Gate-project is still very much part of the equation. The formation continues to tour all the great venues and festivals of the world. Nic Chagall is very much a deejay in his own right. He performed at Nature One, Mystery Land, Trance Energy and Creamfield. He is slated to tour the world this year again with gigs f.e. confirmed in the USA, Russia, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Due to popular demand, he performed in the summer of 2006 at two of the most important of Dutch festivals: Mystery Land and Dance Valley, both exceeding 50.000 visitors. Nic Chagall has over the years displayed an ability to adapt and deepen his musical style with the ever changing face of dance music. Chagall has proven to be talented and skilled and can easily be considered the be one of the quartermasters of the avant-garde of modern day dance music.
After the single-release of “Monday Bar” (High Contrast Rec 2006), which impacted with huge effect in the dance scene worldwide, Nic Chagall is coming up with the next truly signature production. “What You Need” is a ground-breaking new production, that combines progressive trance sounds with rock music. Singer Elliot Johns did the fantastic vocals and gave the final touch to this outstanding track. Beside the original version the masters hand himself delivers three further club mixes, the Hard Dub, the Prelectric - and the In Love With Prog Mix. No small wonder that “What You Need” has emerged from record bags of all the great deejays of the world, including Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk and Ferry Corsten. It’s taking the dance charts by storm at the moment, furthermore confirming the magic that any of Nic Chagall’s productions conjure up. It is a subtle yet still driving energetic musical style that appeals to fans the world over and represents the truly international sound that is typical for Nic Chagall.
In its own right, Nic Chagall has created and inspired some of the most influential music ever to hit the dance floors over the past decade. He now has his work cut out for him: to further explore the way for this unique sound and continue to please his truly global fan base in the years to come. With releases such as “Monday Bar” and latest “What You Need”, there is no doubting that Nic Chagall will see very little of his homeland the coming years, and quite a lot of the rest of the world. And the dance world, is all the better for it.
