Starsplash (Franky Tunes)

Frank Fritze was born on 8th December 1971 in the idyllic town of Heessen in Westphalia, Germany and moved with his parents, whilst he was still a child to Schleswig-Holstein, in the North of Germany.In 1988 he started working as lightjockey in “Sky” a club in Neumuenster, still a important place in the dance and party scene in Northern Germany. Once in a while he was able to try his hand at DJing there too!From 1991 – 1993 he was the resident DJ in “Musikzirkus” in Stendal, heating up the dancefloor for the clubbers with commercial rhythms and bass drums from dance, wave, pop, Techno and Black music.He toured the region, Djing at all the important clubs in Northern Germany, e.g. 4 years at the “Ziegelei” in Gross Weeden. It was here that he met Dutch DJ star, CHARLY LOWNOISE and Sven-R-G, who under the name ROCCO, has become one of the biggest names in the club scene.But DJing wasn’t enough for Franky- he wanted more – he wanted to create his own music!It was really therefore a matter of time before his first Single “Creation” was released - in 1999 – by FRANKY TUNES! The track was to bring him considerable success in the clubs.After producing tracks with Sven-R-G and Lex van Coeverden (ATLANTIC OCEAN), the track “Strings of Infinity” from the project TOPMODELZ which he produced with Pulsedriver and Charly Lownoise was to become his first Top 100 Media Control sales chart success in Germany.And then what haappened???? Well then things just went mad!In June 2001 FRANKY TUNES and Charly Lownoise, who were now often DJing together, decided to make a new mix of “Wonderful Days”. This remixing was done in the hit factory of Essential Cutz in Duisburg. Now it was not possible for the most important Dance label Kontor Records in Hamburg to overlook TUNES and LOWNOISE. The act STARSPLASH was born and the hit was ready. Just 3 weeks later “Wonderful Days 2001” was the highest new entry in the German sales charts at No. 5 (!!!!) and it remained in the Top 10 for many weeks.The 2nd STARSPLASH Single “Free” was just as successful as the chart topper “Wonderful Days 2001” and landed at No. 8 in the German sales charts. The 3rd Single “Rainbow In The Sky” and the Starsplash Album “Here We Go Again”, which was released at the beginning of 2002, were able to continue the success, with the Album climbing to No. 22 in the Album sales charts.At the same time Starsplash were making a name for themselves as remixers. Established acts such as BROOKLYN BOUNCE, LASGO, DJs @ WORK and 666, just to name a few, were getting the man from Neumuenster and his partners to remix their tracks.FRANKY TUNES was then , and still is, also being flooded with DJ booking requests! Despite numerous bookings in Germany and abroad, from September 2002 he concentrated mainly on the production on the 2nd Album (“Friends”) which was also recorded in the Essential Studios in Duisburg.The first Single from the Album “Friends” – “Travel Time” – was the 2nd highest new entry in the official German Media Control Top 100 sales charts at No. 11. The 2nd Single “Endless Fantasy” followed right behind, entering the charts in May 2003 in the Top 20 of the official sales charts.The production of the videos for “Travel Times and “Endless Fantasy” took FRANKY TUNES to the land of opportunities, the USA, for the first time. New York City and Spring Break in Florida were the amazing back-drops for 2 unique video clips and delivered inspiration for new projects! German fans of Starsplash were able to start their Summer with the release of the new Album “Friends” on 2nd June 2003. The 3rd Single from the Album, “Fly Away”, was released in August of the same year, entering the charts at No. 24, with the Album repeated this success, going straight into the Album charts.After touring with SCOOTER, Starsplash’s 3rd Album “Back By Popular Demand” was released in Autumn 2004. The Singles “Alive”, “Can U Kick It” and “Hardstyle” which were taken from it all reached high positions in the Media Control Charts.In May 2005 they released their first Mix-Compilation (DCD-Box) called “Maximum Inside by Starsplash”, which went straight into the Top 20 of the sales charts! The highlight on this sampler was Starsplash’s new version of the classic track “Cold As Ice”, which has never been released as a Single and therefore gained it cult status. The track is still rocking the dancefloors of all the hippest clubs in Europe.After a creative break, during which FRANKY TUNES was still constantly DJing, things have started getting very busy again. On 23rd March 2007 the Single “Your Love” by TOPMODELZ was released, the project of FRANKY and PULSEDRIVER. The two friends had decided to re-launch the project after quite a few years break and with this track they suddenly landed in the Media Control German sales charts – and this despite almost no media support! The release of the follow-up Single “Heartbeat” is planned for the end of May 2007.FRANKY is presently guest DJ on the new Mix-compilation “Technics DJ Set Vol. 18” and with this is supporting his DJ-friend DJ SHOG, who is responsible for this popular Mix-series.There is also hot news regarding STARSPLASH – FRANKY has produced the new Single “Prince Of Love” together with his producer colleagues and friends CLAUS and ERRIK and this is planned for release in June 2007. Several DJs who have tested the track are already all prophesying that it will be a HUGE Summer hit!…… so we look forward to the new STARSPLASH release and, of course, a hot Dance Summer 2007, where, amongst other venues, FRANKY will be DJing at the RIU PALACE in Mallorca.
