"They call me DRAGONDIVA coz I spit FIRE!"

About Me

Since the beginning of her time, Lu Chase knew she wanted be onstage.Experimenting with different sounds and mediums of performance she found her first steps to be in the Theatre business. At the age of 10 Ms Chase knew exactly which way the universe was pointing her to. And chose to accept whatever came up. She starred in a very popular play of that year called "Wine, Women and oops Webber" which comprised of different songs by Sir Andrew Loyd Webber and Tim Rice. And was directed by the phenomenal Gini Paulsen. In 1997 Lu Chase was accepted in the Volkswagen Musicactive program and stood out in all of her subjects. Which lead her to be casted in the hit of the year "Hit me with a hot note". 1999 was quite interesting as Ms Chase was finishing her high school year and didnt really know which direction to go into. As everything went against the prospects of her studying music. She decided to do the next best thing, Sound Engineering.A year later she studied at a place called PROmpt(PROfessional Music Performance Technology)Thats where she met and hooked up with the first Lu Chase band called Johnny Feather.Johnny Feather(Brendam Adams-Guit &Vox,Lex President-Vox, Jason Adams-Bass and Allistair Du Toit- drums) The band had an eclectic Cape Town sound and of course Ms Chase added the neccesary spunk needed to wow the ever fickle Cape Town crowds. They split up amicably a year later as Ms Chase moved to the heart of the city and travelling to and fro became impossible.Thats when she met up with Iridium Project(www.myspace.com/iridiumproject) They were at that point Nick Matthews(Dj/Producer), Riccardo Moretti(musician/producer) and Mario Parmeggiani. The band had been together for a year at the time. And in their hearts they knew something was missing. When they were introduced to The Dragondiva and she breathed her fire into their music, they felt it to be instant chemistry. And with Chase in the mix, things could only rate HOT on the funkometer. Did I mention that Ms Chase LOVES the funk?2003 saw Ms Chase travelling to locations such as Dubai and Al-ain. Performing at popular nightclubs and restaurants as every singer does when they lookin for a break from the norm. When 2004 finally came around Ms Chase found herself in Bali performing at the very popular night club The Kama Sutra. The band was called "Suave" and just like the name they were smooth and infectuous. She stayed in Indonesia on and off till 2006. Travelling between South Africa, Singapore,Bali,Jakkarta and Surabaya. In between all the travelling Lu still made time for the band and Iridium Project kept soaring and funking things up on just about every dancefloor in their Mothercity. 2006 saw them performing at all the VIP events in Cape Town. The highlight for Chase was when they opened for The Stereo Mc's and Fatboy slim at the Coca Cola massive mix.In that year Lu Chase also performed at the prestigious Cape Town International Jazz Festival alongside LA band "The Rebirth" and "Louie Vega and his elements of Life" She performed with "The Forgotten Frequencies" comprised of Cape Town's finest musicians Sean Tim-Drums(Godessa,Max Normal), Riccardo Moretti(Moodphase5, Iridium Project) Shane Cooper, Real Rozanno(Forgotten Frequencies) and Dform(Moodphase 5, Forgotten Frequencies,Tykoon Suit) Oh and what would fashion week South Africa have been without the soulful funk that is Ms Chase. Then there was the Electro fest held at Camps bay beach and Opium nightclub alongside Coda, Goldfish and Flash Republic, the Clifton 4th beach challenge, and the usual residency every band does now and again at the designer hotel Urban Chic. Having just performed on South Africa's first ever live radio broadcast of a live show on sat 28th of April 2007 with DJ Roger Goode for The Saturday Surgery. Iridium Project is frantically busy recording their second album.Currently Miss Chase is busy recording her debut solo album.Accompanied by the backing outfit The Concerned Citizens. The sound is crossover jazz with hints of funk and some pop just to keep ya'll tuned in for the "07" So keep your ear to the ground as Lu Chase and The Concerned Citizens might be coming to a stage near you.Live the Music and be alive!!!
