How Are We Doing? Update on Five Big Environmental Ideas for 2007
After last November's election, we challenged the new Congress to take on five big ideas for environmental progress in 2007.
This week marks the first 100 calendar days of the 110th Congress. We have some developments to report.

Fight Global Warming AND Grow the Economy
Our Legislative Director, Elizabeth Thompson, is encouraged by the developments in our global warming campaign. But, she warns we haven't passed anything yet.

Protecting Endangered Species by Working WITH Farmers and Landowners
Our Land, Water & Wildlife Co-Director, Mary Kelly, says the 110th Congress is already signalling they want to constructively reach out to landowners to help protect endangered species. This is a big step in the right direction.

Our Farm Policy Campaign Director Scott Faber says farmers, ranchers and private landowners deserve more funding for the work they do to protect the environment. If the two agricultural bills recently introduced pass through Congress, we are well on our way to better rewarding our nation's farmers.

Our Oceans Director David Festa says we can use the smart policy options available to us to help rescue and restore our ocean fisheries. With a big victory in Congress in December, we are well on our way.

SUMMER KAYAKING TRIPS
Eco Indiana is introducing our Summer Outdoor Adventures
to raise money and awareness for local environmental projects!
Proceeds will go to purchase bins for local business, community centers and neighborhood recycling programs. Donations are welcome and appreciated.
Every Eco Indiana Trip is ALL-INCLUSIVE, GARANTEED! This means all meals, equipment, tents, kayaks, paddles, life vests, etc. All you need to bring is a dry change of clothes and a good attitude... and a sleeping bag for camping trips.
Trips available:
Kayak Trips:
All Kayak trips are conducted on the weekends. There is one 2-Day trip planned per month and the rest of the weekends are for Half-day and Full-Day trips.
Half Day $37/Person

Two Day Kayak-Camps $137/Person
Includes:
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the trips Kayak Rentals Tons of Wildlife to see Tents, equipment and entertainment Guided tour of one, two or more great locations Photographers will be on hand to document your entire weekend experience All you need is a dry change of clothes, a towel, toiletries and a sleeping bag We provide you with all the necessities for a great camping experience
Don’t need a guide?
Eco Indiana offers Kayak Rentals throughout the week. WE DROP YOU OFF AND PICK YOU UP. So there’s no need to fret over lugging kayaks around.
Half-Day rentals (3-4 hrs) are $25/Person Full-Day rentals (6-8 hrs) are $45/Person Sorry-no two day kayak rentals!
Hiking trips:
All hiking trips are set up through the Falls of the Ohio Interpretive center and include lunch and snacks.
There is a $5 charge for food and a five person minimum sign-up roster for Eco Indiana ’s sponsorship. Note that this does not cover parking for the hike’s location
What we’re doing for the Southern Indiana Community:
Eco Indiana has partnered with local community businesses, churches, schools, recreation centers and set up volunteer clean-up and recycling programs. River and creek clean-ups, adopt a highway, and efforts with Indiana University Southeast top the list of accomplishments in Eco Indiana ’s short history. E. Co. Indiana’s founder, Kyle Patton O’Donnell, is an avid environmentalist. His accomplishments include bicycling all over the world in search of greener cultures (visit myspace.com/shaggamaru). He continues to travel each year and has covered four of the seven continents thus far. He is a published author and works as a contract photographer for The Courier Journal and The New Albany Tribune. He holds certifications in Life Guarding, CPR and AED Life Support. He has a degree in Social Sciences and will graduate in December this year with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and Environmental Science. Having already started many recycling programs throughout the Southern Indiana area, Kyle continues to help educate people young and old on the benefits of a greener lifestyle. And with your help Eco Indiana will continue to create a more green and sustainable future for our community here in Southern Indiana .

What can you do to help out?
Read the blogs on this page and educate yourself on what it takes to take the step to becoming a “greener†consumer. Reduce, reuse and recycle your consumer goods. Make it Last!! Sign our petitions and write your congressmen and women about what YOU want done about the future of your community. Become an active member of Eco Indiana or other local activist groups like the Archeological Society at the Falls of the Ohio or Trash Force Inc. Donate your aluminum cans and cardboard to our recycling bins around the area (call for locations). Donate large plastic bins so that we can distribute them to areas in need of easy recycling programs. Purchase a membership or donate to Eco Indiana and your community.
