I am a hiker, camper, climber, cyclist, adventurist, swimmer, recreationist, motorcyclist, jeep driver, traveler, writer, photographer, studier, thinker, leader, lover of animals, liker of people, despiser of greed, reader, seer and doer. I like to listen to NPR. I love all movies. I like trivia games, poker, National Geographic and NG Adventure, Outside mag. I like going to new places and meeting new people, seeing new cultures, learning new languages. I enjoy my life - because no matter what you believe you may as well have fun while you're here.
This is the Matanuska Glacier just north of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley near where I live. This waterfall was formed from a runnoff pool that melted through to the bottom of the glacier. Except when frozen for a few months in the winter, this glacier alone provides enough runoff to creat the almost year-round Matanuska River that borders my town of Palmer, Alaska.I made it to the top of the Harding Icefield which feeds into local glaciers including Exit Glacier in Seward. As moist sea water came off the ocean and up the cliffside, it combined with the warmer air and formed rain right there in front of me. Great bunch of lads, but the picture is slanted and off center because the person taking it was so drunk that he was looking through the bridge of the flash - not through the view finder. Too funny.The doorways in this country don't even come up to my chin. Look at where the door wedge is.I think this photo was taken in Enniskillen, Ireland. I had not slept the entire flight, then cycled 50 or so miles into the London area finally to pass out at a YMCA and slept all afternoon into the next morning. When active, these falls were five times the size of Niagara!Old Faithful!Rollin in the snowbus, Montana.This is the southside of a beautiful waterfall in Yellowstone National Forest, Wyoming.This "smoke" is actually sulfuric steam coming from the geyser basin at Yellowstone.This trip was great. We almost wrecked into a tree and I wound up scratching a camera lens, but it was a lot of fun anyway.Fishing in the Caribbean.This is a swamp tree that was a lot more populous in the Florida Keys before a lot of settlement started happening here.Look at all the pretty houses. A water locked island only accessible by boat must be a rich man's dream getaway.Famous Sloppy Joes in the Florida Keys - Key West. Good food and great music.Little baby hammerhead.A cleaner fish seemed to have found my belly.Big lobster catch for the day.This is a pic of the chess center in New York City's financial district.Each of these tiles lining the walls under the 7th Avenue subway system of New York are about the size of a dime. Quite an interesting thing to look closely at. These are all over the 3000 miles of subway in NYC.This Alpaca is grazing in a beautiful field... filled with trash.The colors in Bolivia are Splendid!Poverty is in your face... no matter which direction that happens to be.La Paz, Bolivia, one of the most poor cities of the world.There are no state mandated standards for electric wiring in Bolivia.Political Signs line the walls of La Paz, a socialist country that very much dislikes the U.S.'s political leader George W. He was a little too happy to take my photo with me.La Paz, at night.Here I am overlooking Lake Kenai, in Alaska's Kenai Borough about 100 miles south of Anchorage. Great view, but COOOOLD!! Notice the Bear Spray - I've seen three bears since I got here about a week ago.This is the view from my cabin in Alaska. It's gonna be a great summer.Here I am ready for my next trip!!
