Genesis 3 introduces the whole concept of temptation to mankind and we can see how the look, taste and feel of things in life can be so deceptive and destructive, not only to ourselves but to those that come after us. In Galatians 5:16-17 we are informed in no uncertain terms of the nature of this struggle that wars within us.
The question remains, as quoted in Romans 7:24, "Oh wretched man that I am, who can free me from the body of this death?". The answer is swiftly given in the following verse, "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."
Dear Friend, God has not given up on you ... you may feel dirty, ashamed and hopeless, but do not underestimate the power that is in the Word of God. Yes, there are practical steps that you may need to implement but without the liberating truth of the Bible there will not be a lasting change.
