About Me

Maayan smith is an Israeli classical saxophonist. Born in Jerusalem 1983, Maayan started his music studies at the age of 9 and has been playing ever since. He found his way to classical saxohpone through prof. Gersh Geller at the Jerusalem Conservatory. He continued his studies with prof. Geller thorough high school and has recentley finished his Bachelor of music degree from the Jerusalem Music Academy. Since 1998 Maayan has been a member of the Jerusalem Saxophone quartet, playing soprano saxohpone and recentley alto in the latest version of the quartet. Maayan recorded two CD's with the Jerusalem Saxophone Ensemble in 2004 & 2005, released in the Mishkenot Sha'ananim Music Center label. His focus is currently on chamber music and to bring his quartet's music to as many listeners as possible.
