At the age of 16 Oded Tzur is completely absorbed in the music of Dexter Gordon. Record after record, he burns the notes of the Jazz saxophone giant into his mind. Today, 8 Years later, Oded is a disciple of Hariprasad Chaurasia, the living legend of Indian classical music. === After Graduating with honors the Thelma-Yellin High School for the Arts, Israel, Oded is drafted to a 3-year obligatory military service. He performs, as a member of military ensembles, in front of diverse audiences all over the country. === While being involved in the reality of war, Oded starts to search for music that has to do with peace. His music from that time begins to have the meditative quality that characterizes it today. === On 2004 Oded becomes a student of Prof. Gersh Geller at the Jerusalem Music Academy. Geller’s teaching develops his technical ability to the extremes his future choice will demand from him. By the end of the year Oded is a member of the academy’s saxophone quartet and a winner of the America-Israel Cultural Fund. === By 2006, Oded is introduced to Indian music and recognizes its resemblance to his own musical ideas. He immediately starts his project of adapting the saxophone to this new language, a work that will soon award him the privilege of becoming a student at the Rotterdam World Music Academy, where he continues to shape his musical personality. The patience, dedication and love that made his journey possible are felt in each of his special creations.
