Gilad performs live, composes film scores and music for other projects.
At the age of 6 Gilad began to create melodies by ear, which quickly led him to discover and master the piano.
Gilad’s formal musical education began at age 11, when he was accepted to the Music Conservatory in Tiberius. At age 14 Gilad left home to study at the music department of the prestigious Talma Yellin High School of the Arts, There he focused on jazz .
During his senior year Gilad was already composing and arranging music for theater and films as well as recording and supporting a rock band .
After extensively studying the art of sound engineering Gilad set up his own home studio, and continue to compose and produce music . He then went on to study composition and jazz at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD) where he graduated with honors in 2006.
Both in 2003 and in 2006 Gilad won scholarships from Berklee school of music, Boston. Also, Gilad has been invited to learn at the ’Universitat der Kunste’ ( University for the Arts, Berlin) .
Gilad’s musical versatility allows him to enjoy playing in rock, pop, and jazz bands all over Israel, as well as appearing on national television, at music festivals and cultural events .
Gilad has collaborated and learned with top musicians both in the Israeli and world wide jazz scene among them :Omer Avital, the late Arnie Lawrence,Gerry allen,Lee konitz,David Liebmann,Gilad Azmon, Bob Meyer, Ed Schuller, and many others .
Gilad has performed at Israeli Music festivals such as the International Jazz Festival in Jerusalem, the Piano Jazz Festival in Tel Aviv .Also,in 2006-7 GIlad was taking big part in producing the first Israeli Jazz Series ( "Habayta" , Beit Avi Chai culture center 2006 -7) unique musical series in which Israeli jazz artists from all over Israel created a crossover between jazz,Israeli music and Jewish themes . later on ,( 2008 ) Beit avi chai center produced the John Zorn festival .
Gilad’s original music and arrangements have received rave reviews from teachers, fellow musicians, associates, and fans.
