Started violin and guitar at a young age. Continued learning in countless cross-canadian hippy jams before completing a degree in jazz arranging and composition at Vanier college. For the past 6 years I have supported myself by performing with many different groups, but still consider myself primarily as a student. I have made several trips to India and Morrocco to study their styles of playing, and am currently practicing oud and viola while absorbing as much as I can from Turkish and Romanian gypsy music.
I am also learning (and doing a lot of) violin repair and maintenance so if you want your granny's fiddle fixed cheap or are looking to buy, you'll want to see me!
THE HUGE COLLECTION OF BALKAN MUSIC TRANSCRIPTIONS is a book project I have been working on for at least the past 5 years with my friend JEFF of the 'FOUS TZIGANES'. With luck it should be on sale by the end of this year....
