Songbirds Sing Because They Must

About Me

My new music Playlist:

I'm a multi-faceted person that could never survive a day without some type of creativity. I love to paint, draw, sing, play the guitar and piano, compose and write.

..

I enjoy reading, researching, teaching & guiding. I am willing to take a stand when I must, and I strive to be successful at silence when I should. I find peace, beauty and great joy in nature. Nature/Earth is one of God's many faces, to me.

Most people who really know me would say that I am a deeply spiritual & intuituve person. It's true. I can be very connected. I am also a strong believer in "random acts of kindness." It is the single most important thing I do to keep myself aligned.
My spiritual journey is a path I travel every moment and in every breath that I take. I am an imperfect person. So I don't expect perfection, though I try my best. I haven't always been this way and I am deeply grateful to the children I have known because they have taught me the truth of "perfection."I really don't like mean or cold-hearted people. I do attempt to try to understand it but there is no guarantee of the outcome. I have no sense of humor when it comes to liars. And I have a deep aversion to those who have no sense of humility, dignity, or compassion. I have left "morality" out because I feel that for the most part, it is insignificant when those (the 3 above) are part of one's character. I am really inspired in the company of people who have a warm and caring heart. KINDNESS ROCKS!!!!!~ ~ ~ I prefer the company of non-judgmental people. By that, I mean that judgments are kept inside, at least until full discovery is made!!! I absolutely love TRUE intelligence. I try to be intelligent without losing perspective of the objective of intelligence. As I've said, I am caring, but for a brief moment, I can be cold. I am thoughtful, but often unconsciously go over the edge, trying to prove it. I purr, but I might bite too, if you give me a reason to feel afraid or you deliberately hurt me. I don't have time for those who like to play mind games. If you completely loose my trust, it is nearly impossible to get it back. I consider this to be a flaw, though it has saved me many times.I love fresh breezes, mountains, ocean views, forests, trees, flowers, water and more water! I can become so completely enthralled by nature that I am in a state of rapture. I am proud to have the blood of the great Cherokee in me.I'm stubborn inside the light of God, but otherwise, I'm a "free-thinker," meaning that if I speak too freely (without thinking) I promise you, I play "re-run" later on. I am always probing and examining my own actions to be sure I am being "who I really am."I'm not afraid of being wrong. In a discussion of differing viewpoints, I will most likely be the first one to "understand" an opposing view. However, such understanding may disintegrate if you do not allow my viewpoint equal respect. My understanding of an opposing view does not always mean that I am in agreement.~ ~ ~ My Dream Home ~ ~ ~Two final thoughts: for me living wouldn't be possible without music and I sometimes stomp my feet at God. I am deeply grateful that He is a tolerant and forgiving Father.

I'd like to meet:

I hope that one day I will meet all of the little people I taught long ago (as well as the older siblings that spent time with me). They became part of my heart forever. I told them I loved them, and I meant it.I'd also love to meet other self-representing vocalists/musically oriented artists who are marketing their talents. I'm also interested in getting to know artists of realistic style painting/drawing, artists involved in the faux finishing/mural business, and/or "artists" of photography. Finally, I'm also very interested in networking with writers of all sorts.I love people who are creative. I am always most inspired when I am around people who enjoy live-music and those who love nature.

I adore people who don't get hung up on ages and cover packages, people who try to make a difference EVERY day, and people who are not afraid to be truthful to themselves, foremost.

For me, "the look" is nice, but a good "inside surprise" is what really makes my day!

I am not interested in building relationships with guys who are looking for anything more than a great friendship or business relationship.I am happily married to my soul mate.

** NOTE TO FRIENDS**

For now, I have eliminated the larger Friend's List. I will rotate friends from time to time. Please know that you are all important and special to me. Thanks.

Music:

This was a gift to me today from one of my newest heroines, Gaile. If you love really good blues people visit her here:
www.myspace.com/gailewelker

I place it here in this section in honor of her incredible and special son, Lee Welker. They have both touched my heart with familiarities, friendship, and I believe . . . the long musical fingers of God.

Click here to go to LEE WELKER'S site!

I love all music. I also have an appreciation for most poetry in music when it comes from sincere, honest, and raw emotion. I don't care for poetry or music that is harmful toward the mind and psychology of children. I also don't care much for music/poetry oriented toward gender bashing or that devalues family.

I LOVE MUSIC!!!!

Some favorites are: Alicia Keys, Allison Krauss, Aaron Neville, Bad Company, Barbra Streisand, Beatles, BETH HART!, Billie Holiday, Blues Traveller, Bob Marley, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Carpenters, Cat Stevens, Crosby-Stills-Nash-Young, Dave Mathews Band, Deep Purple, Dido, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Enya, Eric Clapton, Evanescence, Faith Hill, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, India Aries, James Taylor, Janis Joplin, JEFF BECK!, Joe Cocker, John Denver, Johnny Mathis, Joni Mitchell, K D Lang, Kenny Logins, Led Zeppelin, Louie Armstrong, Melissa Etheridge, Moody Blues-The, Muddy Waters, Nickelback, Norah Jones, Pat Benatar, Pink Floyd, Rob Thomas, Sade, SANTANA!, Sarah McLachlin, Sarah Vaughn, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tom Petty, Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman, AND some that are here on MySpace!

I put Artists' Banners here BECAUSE they make great music AND they honor friendships. Please pay them a visit. You will not be disappointed! Tell them I sent ya!

Finally, the most influential artists have been my mother (gospel/blues/jazz/early rock vocalist) and Father (writer/pianist/vocalist).

This is a picture of my beautiful mother, whom I have just recently lost.

This is a picture of my Dad and me at my wedding reception ~ I wouldn't leave the party until the piano man played!

People have told me I sound like Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand, Bonnie Raitt, and even Pat Benatar. (I also dabble in some operatic vibes on a rare and special occasion.)

Now, if I could just add a touch of Alicia Keyes and Janis Joplin . . . I'd really be happy! LOL !!!

GOD, Aagard, Bouguereau, Davinci, Leighton, Michelangelo, Monet, Rembrandt, Renoir, Waterhouse, Moore . . .

JESUS, Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickenson, Kahlil Gibran, Robert Frost, Shakespeare, AND . . . my friend, the best poet I have personally ever known in my lifetime ~ Barbara ~

A Favorite Photographer found in My Friend's List is Sunshine Melody.

I love epic dramas/adventures set within historical settings and/or stimulating natural environments. I also love most sci-fi stuff and old timey movies. My most favorite "current" movies are "What Dreams May Come," "The Green Mile," "The Notebook," "The Lakehouse," and "The Gladiator."

Television:

Live Concerts, Anything on Ovation, The Discovery Channels, The History Channel, Animal Channel, The Weather Channel, and the local public channels. I have to admit, I do like Prison Break, American Idol and a variety of Dance related shows.

Books:

Heroes:

At the top of my list of heroes are the Triune God, my Dad, and my beloved husband. I have many others.
God is the greatest hero. He used to speak to me when I was a child. (This is not the slightest exaggeration of the truth.) Are you one of my heroes?

The One campaign"The curse of poverty has no justification in our age . . .The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct and immediate abolition of poverty." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
