I wanna play music again... Want to focus on art, and drawing

Family...

It is all about family... Period. That includes friends. Pretty sad place without family and friends.

I have the most awesome wife who is my very best friend... We just celebrated our 21st year of marriage!!! Have an awesome kid who is doing great and fun to be around...

Family helps me define my wealth... It ain't about all the stuff you can buy... very boring, and sad to define who you are by 'things'

Music...

Carved out a nice living playing music in Detroit. Lots of club work, opening act work, session work, commercials and some PBS sound track work... all in the early 80's

Kinda put music on the back burner. Met my lovely wife, did the grown up thing... Day Gig, SUV, Kid thing, Dog and Cat.., etc. Life is good, and given the chance I would not do anything differently.

Really miss playing music, but don't like the smoke filled rooms, and freak show bar scene. Looking to do some cool project work! Perhaps some digital recording projects via the internet??? Lemme know if any of you are interested.

I read music, have good chops, play the 'right stuff' on recordings and can play with a click track.... Oh and I listen to producers... Checked the ego at the door many years ago.

I study now for enjoyment and play on occasion. I have set up a nice little digital studio with a PreSonus FirePod and Adobe Audition...

Samantha - The master of groove!!! Gerry's grand daughter

I am hooked on Afro Cuban stuff and linear phrasing... kicks your butt... especially the left foot Clave. Life is all about Clave.

Here is some stuff I am working on:

Art...

Started drawing just out of high school. Then quit. I just picked up a pencil about 3 months ago and have not done too much with it. My Mom is an accomplished artist, so I guess its somewhere in the gene pool.... I think I have some basic talent, although have never studied or taken an art course. I love it and need to start working on it... One of the reasons for joining MySpace... Seeing lots of good artists on this site...

Amazing after all these years, that I am finally identifying links between drawing and music. Drawing is really not so much about skill (no offense) it is about 'seeing' things in a new and different way. What do you actually see, versus what you 'think' you see...

Music is SO similar... Hence the unknown session players, who grace every sound track of the movies we see... and the guys who are called for every session from country, to pop... They hear the way artists see...

So here are some samples and practice stuff I am working on... Perspective is the most difficult thing for me...

More on the Music Front...

So if you get a chance... check out these sites!

Dan Schafer...

Dan is one of the Detroit circuit guys... Great player and singer... Dan left Detroit in the 80's to make a living in Nashville... Check out his site... Very proud of Dan... and a very deserving guy. BTW he is playing the background guitar licks on his home page... HOT!!!

Don Was...

Had the distinct pleasure to play with Don Was... It was a small jazz venue in Detroit, with amazing pianist Lenore Paxton. An awesome learning experience. Don is very deserving of his success!!!

Stacey Knights...

Stacey is a local Sax player. Stacey is a good friend, a good person and a great musician. I have had the pleasure to work with Stacey on projects, and still do pickup gigs with her, when my out of control schedule permits... Stacey has an awesome band... Robin Foreman, of CitiHeat plays keys and is Stacey's musical director... Great person and great player!!!!!

Jill Killian...

Jill is an amazing Country singer... As good as any. Did project work with Jill, and did some concert gigs with her. Plans to work with her on her new CD... Jill is now doing spokes model and acting gigs...
