Smith'n West'n (pronounced as Smith & Wesson!!) is a DJ partnership created in Leeds....
Nick originates from the "Clubbing Capital" of the world and Craig descends from the bright lights of Blackpool!
They met by chance on a night out at the legendary Speed Queen and found they both had recently purchased some turntables. After many Saturday nights out listening to other DJ's do their stuff, they decided to spend some time in and hone their mixing skills to the point where they could put a CD together and get some feedback!
Having played the House Party scene and a few ad-hoc gigs, they were pleasantly supprised by the crowds reaction so they set about looking for that elusive residency.
They went to play a number of gigs around Yorkshire at venues such as Lureluxe Bar, Gate and Club XS in Harrogate, Bar Mocha and Bar C1 in Huddersfield and Bar 38 in York.
The first breakthrough came when they were given a slot at MindTheGap . This was an electro night and featured the best of the electronic genre both past and present. It was held at Mook, Hirst’s yard, Leeds (next to Space).
On the 3rd May they were invited to play at Club Mission for the HoMo 3rd birthday party, having played a 3 hour set in the Annex they went down a storm and were invited back the following week and went on to secure a fortnightly residency.
Over the summer they went from strength to strength... You can now find them at Bar Fibre on rotation after a debut performance on the 2nd of June. This has seen them playing alongside Andras, Greg Myers, Stuart Robinson, David Ryan, Jason Guy and John Marshall....
Late June & July saw them playing pre-party's for Kissdafunk warming up for the likes of Drew Scott, Trophytwins, Rob Tissera & the Hoxton Whores.
August saw them playing at Leeds newest and best looking club (As voted Leeds Club Awards 2007)... Religion!
With the party scene constantly changing and developing in Leeds a new night surfaced going by the name of Spangled . The Launch of this night was the 2nd November at the Mint Club but then moved to Religion.
They along with fellow resident Matt Fear turned Spangled into the best night in Leeds on a Friday and saw the lads playing with the likes of Marc Leaf, Luke Pompey, Kris Munton, Jo Kira, Levi Lewis, Dale Castell and Eddie Zanetti!!
Summer 2008 promises to be the most exciting period yet as they take on the white isle of Ibiza . The boys have teamed up with Dirty Freek, DF is one of the most inovative and exciting producers in UK at the present and they are proud to announce that they will be playing alongside him at Opium in San Antonio every Friday at a night called WE LOVE TO FREEK .
Finally if that was not enough, they recently played for FEDERATION , this has been the lads biggest achievment so far. If you have'nt been to a Federation night yet Where have you been????
