GET FUNKED MUTHAFUNKAAAAAZZZZZZ!!!!
My name is
Tommy McFadden and i am (amongst other things) a House/Electro/Dirty/ Funky Producer from Liverpool!
Right to begin im gonna do my best to describe how i got into music as best i can in the shortest amount of time.
How things began:
When i was 8 my dad bought himself a full disco, Vinyl turntables with built in amp and mixer, box lights and some 150watt speakers. He already had an extensive collection of LP`s so the music wasnt a problem. That day i come home to find it set up in the parlour of our house and i was in awe of this equipment, flashing lights music blasting and the house rockin at 3:15pm in the afternoon!! My dad behind the disco in his element as you can imagine and with that, my dad started his business "Disco Explosion". Kids parties, adult parties, residencies and general family house partys were all great time hosted by my dad John Mc
(www.myspace.com/bigfaddo add him!!!).
Me always being into music i was fascinated by the weekend job my dad done, at kids discos i would tag along and he taught me the art of Disco DJ`ing from the age of 11. Knowing what to play, judging the crowd, always having fun with the audience and a good bit of banter on the mic. The skills my dad portrayed were to make him one of liverpools most widely known disco dj`s and was playin everywhere, not just in liverpool mind, the furthest his Disco`s ever took was to Wales which apparently was a fantastic night.
Love at first beat?I done kids parties with my dad and my cousin Lee who was also learnin the trade but had been doing it from day 1 with my dad for 3 years b4 i started. Now wit all the music i was hearing, i heard alot of dance music played by both my father and my cousin which sparked the love of all things electronic. By 12 i was making mashups on Traktor DJ which my dad regularly played!!
My first set of tuntablesDec 03 came and me at 14 listening to liverpool jocks such as Lee Butler i wanted to get into dj`ing but of a different caliber to the dj`ing i was accustomed to. I wanted to mix dance music! That christmas i recieved my first set of turntables and was mixing such music as "Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes", Special D - Come With Me" and many other chart/club smashes. As i practised everyday i found out more and more about the music industry as a whole and with my expeireince as a disco dj, it really helped me to progress.
What the hell is production?May 04 rolled round and i picked up a "BCD" release where i pondered to myself, how in gods name do they do this. I scoured the internet for answers and come across a program called "Fruity Loops". Instantly i started making tracks, sampling others mainly which was at the time alot of fun! At first when i was making tracks i would never play my own beats at a disco because i relaised my production immaturity.
But back to the discos...
While teaching myself the art of mixing i done these parties with my father and my cousin up until i was 15 when i got my first booking which was for a family friend where i played for 12 hours straight in a kids/adult party. Unfortunatly, after one night in one of my Fathers residencies, his equpment was stolen in the night, all he had left was his CD`s (yes he eventually got CD`s and stoppped using LP singles haha) and a few box lights. By this time my cousin had already built his own disco and was carrying on with his bookings while my dad still took bookings for him and ran the business he started called (as said before) "Disco Explosion". Realising my fathers discos had pretty much finished i decided to pack in too and concentrate on mixing from my own turntables and my production.
My own musicOver time i have made many styles of music, Bouncy House, Trance, Euro, Hardcore, Pop, RnB even DnB!
But overtime i always had a interest in house music... I always tried to produce something worth but always come up trumps so as always i reverted back Bouncy House (ewwwwww).
To try and make my music more in a way, professional, Christmas 05 i got a Studio Condenser Microphone for vocals!! Alot of my earlier work was featuring my little sister Becki Mc which you will be hearing more of soon!! But now i mainly use other singers, pro`s.
My 18thAug 06 i went to Faliraki, Greece for a holiday and to see my brother who was working over there. Whilst in Greece i had a absoluty frantic time, by the end of the week i didnt want to leave... so i didnt!!! Me and my big brother (who is smaller than me) stayed to work til 0ct. Over the 3 months i was there i hammered left right and center by House/Electro/Dirty beats so it was obvious that on my return i instantly strated producing it. Bouncy was scrapped and my plunge into House began, i`ll never look back.
To wrap things upNowadays, i have a few releases pending for example "The Funk Out Feat Laura - Day By Day" on Bosh Records which is predicted to be a smash!
If you would like to know more about me, about my music, want some advice (in any aspect) or just want a new friend, then add me on msn:
