Celebrating 60 years!

About Me

This page was created and is maintained by Friends of KRVM, an Oregon non-profit corporation, to help spread the word about the best radio station on the planet! Our "friends" list reflects the artists and types of music played on KRVM, together with fans, member supporters, business underwriters, and KRVM DJs/shows. You can listen online 24/7 from the KRVM website - www.KRVM.org. Enjoy!!!

KRVM MISSION: "To provide quality community radio while educating area high school students and volunteers in the techniques of broadcasting."

It is the mission of KRVM to serve the community interest by producing an innovative, unique and diverse radio program of both entertainment and information. It is also the mission of KRVM to provide access to all ages of the community who wish to add to their communication experience. KRVM's mission is to deliver a consistently professional program, utilizing students and a volunteer staff.

Weekday programming on KRVM is an Adult Album Alternative (AAA) mix from new and established performers. You'll never hear the same song between 8 AM and 5 PM on weekdays! In addition, we feature a wide variety of specialty shows in the evening and on weekends.

Licensed to and owned by School District 4J, in Lane County, Oregon, KRVM offers an opportunity for students to learn radio broadcasting in a real working environment. Our mix of education in public broadcasting and an adult listenership provides a marketable service that generates funds from underwriter support. We also receive funds from member support and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

OUR UNIQUE HISTORY: Educational radio stations were among the first to take to the air in the early 1920s when public interest in broadcasting reached its peak. After 1945, the FCC opened a new FM broadcast band between 88-108 megahertz. School District 4J's KRVM was the 13th in the nation to take to the air as an educational station; the first in the entire Pacific Northwest.

KRVM no longer broadcasts educational programs to the schools for in-classroom instruction. Instead, it focuses on the training of middle and high school students for careers in radio broadcasting, and also produces many programs for the general public.

KRVM went "live" promptly at 10:00 AM, December 6, 1947, in Eugene, Oregon. KRVM was Eugene's first FM station and Eugene's fourth radio station.

BROADCAST COVERAGE: KRVM 91.9 FM provides a strong signal throughout Oregon's southern Willamette Valley. In addition, FM radio repeaters serve Reedsport and Coos Bay on the Oregon coast, and listeners worldwide can tune in via the Internet.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: krvm.org; friendsofkrvm.org
Band Members: KRVM consists of 7 paid staff members and about 50 active volunteers. We also have a student broadcasting program which provides middle and high school students with the opportunity to learn radio broadcasting and be ON THE AIR! All of KRVM's DJs are volunteers.

REGARDING ADD REQUESTS: KRVM is owned by a public school district. We will not add anyone who has anything obscene or violent in their music or on their MySpace page. We cannot approve an add request if we can't first see your profile (i.e. it's set to private). We will not add bands whose music is of a religious nature. We will not add anyone whose page is designed for promoting a business (including record companies), unless they are a KRVM underwriter or a local business. If you are interested in underwriting with KRVM, contact Bobbie Cirel, KRVM Development Director, at [email protected] or 541-687-3370.
Influences: KRVM's current programming was inspired by "The KAVE" - a commercial radio station in Eugene, Oregon, that went off the air in the early 90s. KRVM took over The KAVE's variety in programming that made it such a popular radio station locally. KRVM strives to provide programming that appeals to our unique local radio audience while keeping the shows "live and alive" 24/7.

ATTN: BANDS!!! KRVM 91.9 FM is a community public radio station with all-volunteer DJs. We have a WIDE variety of specialty shows and play AAA on weekdays. Check the "SOUNDS LIKE" section for the genres of our specialty shows.

If you'd like to send us your press kit w/ CD, we'll check you out. Can't make any promises, but maybe we can get you on the air! Send to Program Director, KRVM 91.9 FM, 1574 Coburg Rd., PMB 237, Eugene, OR, 97401.

Our friends list includes bands/musicians who reflect the kind of music KRVM plays. It also includes our business supporters. Businesses who would like to become KRVM underwriters please contact Bobbie Cirel, Development Director, at [email protected] or 541-687-3370. We'll be happy to put your business on our friends list when you become an underwriter!!!
