Saltlick is an original indie-rock band with a country twang from Eugene, Oregon. The band formed in 2000 by Steve Taddei following the demise of his seminal country/rock outfit, Hillbilly Holocaust. The band cut their teeth on the Eugene club scene culminating in a memorable performance on the main stage of the Eugene Celebration in 2002. In 2003 the band took a deserved hiatus. They reformed in 2004 with Steve Taddei (lead vox/guitar), Chris Ross (lead guitar/pedal steel), Ryan Tocchini (keys/vox), Jerry Abelin (bass/vox), and Scott Headrick (drums/vox). The current lineup, with Mike Last on drums and Brian Patrick on bass, are hard at work on the follow up to the band's debut "A Face Only a Mother Could Love". Taddei's compelling songwriting and unique voice are distinctive, backed up by Ryan's harmonies creating a sound reminiscent of Bob Dylan and The Band with echoes of the 1980's Athens, GA scene. The jangly telecaster, creative key-work, and processed pedal steel sounds are grounded by the deep pockets a of a criminally able rhythm section. Saltlick patches it's influences of garage rock and traditional country into the quiltwork of America's cultural heritage while providing their audiences with first quality entertainment.
