Rob The Vintage Guru

A very nice guy!

About Me

Male 28 year old from the Parma countryside, Northern Italy. Former Lead Guitarist in a great band called Ivan Torelli and his Pepperoni. Real Vintage Guru and avid collector of fine vintage guitars and amps. Fender Stratocaster lover and connoisseur. Born and raised here in the world famous "Food Valley". Spaghetti and good Italian food lover. Former rugby player and ski lover!I started playing guitar when I was 11, I started buying and selling guitars when I was 16 and the prices were not too high. I traded a lot of late '70s Strats and amplifiers because my goal was to buy a '60s Strat. I grew up with '60s and '70s music and I want to to play that guitar my heroes played. But when I bought one I looked for a second one.... you know, the collectors have big mental problems! I searched original guitars but I looked also for THE SOUND, I'm not the kind of collector who looks only those guitars as an investment. I play those guitars, you must play them, if you don't play them, they die! I call them "The Stradivaris of the third millennium". Antonio Stradivari was the greatest violin maker in the history, he was from Cremona (very close to Parma). One day, when I was 13 or so, I go with the school to heard the violin collection in Cremona. The violin player used 3 violins: 1 Stradivari, 1 Guarneri (Paganini played one, sweet sounding, phenomenal), 1 Amati (The mentor of Stradivari, another great one). Those 3 instruments were exceptional and they played gorgeous, but, the Stradivari had an impressive amount of volume, and the room was very very big. I'm not a violin player or a classical music fanatic but that day I understand THE SOUND. If you have an opportunity to go to heard a Stradivari, you must have to go!!! And remember, you must play it minimum once a week, if not it dies! The music never dies! So you have to play it! It's the same for those high prized vintage guitars capable of incredible tones.Another thing I like is skiing. I prefer the Italian alps (Trentino-Alto Adige) of course. The great thing is you do a very nice sport with clean air and you see an heartbreaking panorama. You drink a lot of grappa too.... I have three dogs and I love them, expecially the German Sheperd, I like to speak with them and they listen to you with those nice ears!I like sport cars (I have one but I don't use it a lot), I have a very special Vespa painted in Candy Apple Red like my '66 mint Stratocaster (the Vespa is refinished!).I love Rugby, I'm a Rugby Viadana supporter and a former Rugby player. My football team is A.C. Milan and mi hero is Gennaro Gattuso, very rough player but very honest guy.Of course I like beautyful girls, expecially CARINA LIROLA! I met her here on Myspace, she's very nice and she's the first one I met in my life who knows very well Vintage Stratocasters, she's the woman of my dreams! Carina, do you want to marry me?!?!?
