Maple Ridge Bluegrass Band

About Me

Although Maple Ridge Bluegrass Band can be as traditional sounding as any bluegrass band, the band’s repertoire is extremely varied, laced with pop, celtic, blues compositions and songs from African-American gospel tradition, Western Swing, and even Klezmer!
The members of Maple Ridge Bluegrass Band came together in Greenfield from all points of Boston Metro-West: Terry Atkinson (guitar) from Greenfield, John Rough (banjo) from Palmer, Adam R. Sweet (fiddle/mandolin) from Belchertown and Joe Blumenthal (bass) from Northampton.
All band members are on-call session musicians in constant demand by the Pioneer Valley's mainstream folk and world music ensembles; yet all the while, Maple Ridge Bluegrass Band’s recordings have virtually defined the "Metro-West" sound. These gifted musicians have joined together under a name that salutes the Pioneer Valley, creating an all-American sound. Maple Ridge Bluegrass Band's talents have been celebrated, literally, around the state, but the band’s appeal is as basic as a small-town general store.
