Mission:
The mission of Animal Outreach, Inc. is to help end pet overpopulation by encouraging responsible pet ownership; promoting spay/neuter programs; and uniting the efforts of rescue groups, animal control agencies, traditional shelters, veterinarians and other concerned individuals.
Programs & History:
Our programs focus on improving public education and awareness of animal issues in Ohio and the operation of a spay/neuter assistance program.
A large component of our public education and awareness program is The Animal Insider , a quarterly newsletter highlighting animal-related news and events in Ohio. Each issue features informative articles about animal issues, a comprehensive calendar of events being held by area rescue groups, and animals available for adoption. In 2002 Animal Outreach assumed responsibility for the Central Ohio Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (CO-SNAP) and the Animal Outreach SNAP Program was created. The SNAP program assists income-eligible individuals with the cost of spay and neuter surgeries through the use of vouchers redeemable at select veterinary offices in Central Ohio. Individuals must complete an application and submit income verification to be eligible for financial assistance. Currently we are not accepting applications.
Animal Outreach was one of the lead organizing groups of the Pooch Parade, the nation's largest free dog parade held annually in Worthington, Ohio. The event included more than 50 animal welfare agencies and rescue groups and attracts more than 2,500 dogs and their owners. We also participate in many other festivals and events in the central Ohio area to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, the plight of homeless animals and the importance of spay/neuter.
Founded in 2001, Animal Outreach, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization supported entirely through public donations. We are an all-volunteer organization and have no paid staff.
