Music:

I need to come back to this one. But, do check out Jon Brion at Largo in LA if ever given the chance.

My top 2 are: the Beatles and U2.

Others: Led Zeppelin, REM, Bowie, Leonard Cohen, CSNY, Simon and Garfunkel, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, etc. Also currently like: The Shins, Downright, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Mark Geary, Arcade Fire, the Decemberists, Milli Vanilli, Aimee Mann, on and on and on and on we go...

I know I'm always behind. Someone just send me CDs and tell me what to listen to please. I'll give you my address and even pay postage.

Movies:

Documentaries: Everyone should see The Dancing Outlaw, Dogtown and Z-Boys, The Royal Academy, Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man, In The Realms of the Unreal, small town gay bar, Grey Gardens, Danielson: A Family Movie, Four Bangers, Devil's Playground, Dig!, Monster Road. Those come to mind immediately.
Other great movies are very hard to list. I'm asked this question a lot, so I will put some thought to it and actually come up with a full list soon. But please rest assured that Bottle Rocket is on it.
Not all inclusive and top of mind awareness is everything, I guess, but some fantastic movies are:
Magnolia, Hard Eight, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, The Royal Tenenbaums, Lost in Translation, Boogie Nights, All The Real Girls, The Castle, Reservoir Dogs, Sleep With Me, Fight Club, Me You and Everyone We Know, Big Fish, Amelie, Shortcuts, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Squid and the Whale, Clockwork Orange, American Beauty, 12 Monkeys, Shawshank, Man in the Moon, Donnie Darko, American Splendor, Secretary, Punch-Drunk Love, Edward Scissorhands, We Go Way Back, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Almost Famous, Garden State, Hedwig, Suicide Kings, Dandelion, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Love Liza, I Heart Huckabees, The Player, Being There, I am Sam, The Big Lebowski, Weatherman, Anniversary Party, Life Aquatic, We Go Way Back, Usual Suspects, Virgin Suicides, The Departed.
I enjoy Paul Thomas Anderson and Wes Anderson most of all. You gotta have your faves and I do. And opinions. And for godssake, please like good films. I'll also gladly accept free movies.

Television:

Six Feet Under is still the best TV show ever made. Ever.

Curb, The BBC Office, Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman, Arrested Development, Mr. Show, Sopranos, Entourage, Lost, Huff, Weeds, Dexter, Project Runway

I did like The Comeback.

Books:

Let's start with authors: Daniel Wallace , sweetest man to ever live; Hunter S. Thompson, complete opposite of Daniel but still worthy of note.
I liked the Anne Rice witch series, but none of the others
Love the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy trilogy

Irvine Welsh, Allen Ginsberg, Bukowski, Dave Eggers, David Sedaris

Subjects include: used to really love reading about serial killers, books about OCD, Tourette's, etc., I also really liked Mankind's "Have a Nice Day". Currently reading: Pattern Recognition

Heroes:

isn't near as good as I thought it might be.
