About Me

Audition for the 2008 Fall Showcase Benefit this Monday, June 30th, at WorkPlay - 6PM. See blog for details.
Sunflowers and Shakespeare: on Saturday, June 21st - Jones Valley Urban Farm and MUSE OF FIRE: Shakespeare at Sloss presented the first Sunflowers & Shakespeare cocktail hour at 6PM, at the Gardens of Park Place in downtown Birmingham. After the annual JVUF U-Pick Sunflower Celebration, MUSE OF FIRE took over the Urban Farm to stage a handful of Shakespeare's most luscious garden scenes, complete with complimentary wine and organic seasonal hors d'oeuvres from one of Birmingham's most innovative new chefs.Donations benefitted Jones Valley Urban Farm's mission to "Reconnect People to Food".MUSE OF FIRE is a project of Sloss Performing Arts, a cultural program of Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Visit www.shakespeareatsloss.com for more information.
MUSE OF FIRE
is an innovative Shakespeare project at Sloss Furnace.
For the inaugural sold out Fall Showcase on November 11 and 12, 2006, MUSE staged 8 scenes - tragedy, comedy, and history - throughout the footpath of Sloss, ushering groups of 25 audience members from location to location. Each show was followed by a wine tasting, hosted by The Grape.
In May 2007, MUSE went full-length with an adrenaline-fueled HENRY V, Saturday and Sunday afternoon, May 19th and 20th, produced in association with Catalyst 4 Birmingham. Peek around the site for documentary sneak snips and beaucoup pix.
The Fall Showcase Benefit returned in 2007 with seven scenes from seven different Shakespearean plays around the footpath of Sloss, ushering audiences from location to location. Scenes included - Othello v. Desdemona, Hamlet v. Gravedigger, Regan v. Gloucester, Tamora v. All Of Rome, and Mercutio v. Handpuppet, among others.
