I am a Midwife and a Mother of 3 little children (aged 5, 3 and 1). I am passionate about womens health, birth, life and equality for all. I live in house, i have work and have easy access to fantastic health care services should i need it. Many women are not as fortunate as I, and live in poverty with little or no education, with income less than $200 a year for their own family, who have a life expectancy of less than 50 years old and suffer trauma to their bodies and lives that many of us cannot even conceive imaginable.I am here because i am on a bit of a mission. Ive set myself up on a journey to help women and their babies in developing countries to safer and happier outcomes within their lives...DID YOU KNOW THAT Pregnancy and childbirth is one of the leading causes of death in women of reproductive age in Africa. There is a charity organisation called Maternity Worldwide. They are saving lives in childbirth by helping those women who most need access to professional care. One of their projects is helping out with Gimbie Adventist Hospital, a small hospital in a relatively small place in Western Ethiopia. Funds they receive go to the employment and training of medical and midwifery staff, setting up women's community education and empowerment groups and providing a Safe Birth Fund for those unable to pay for care.

ADDIS TO GIMBIE - MY 350KM CHARITY BIKE RIDE
I’ll be riding my bike 350kms across difficult, mountainous terrain in the Western Ethiopian Highlands to raise funds for Maternity Worldwide's work saving lives in childbirth. The bike ride takes place over 6 days and I’ll be gone for about two weeks. I get to see how Gimbie Adventist Hospital operates and see first hand, the amazing work that goes on and how lives are saved and changed.
