About Me

Childbirth is a normal, natural part of life. Women have been experiencing this difficult, yet joyous and rewarding experience since the beginning of time. It wasn't until the last hundred years or so that birth was looked at as a medical, dangerous process. It's been proven that women do better and progress quicker if they are with people they love and trust. We live in a day and age where people want to medicate themselves for every discomfort they have. Medications don't go without reprucussions. Consider the fact that the baby is very little compared to the mom, yet still gets the same amount of the drug that mom gets. It's also been proven that being medicated for birth really interferes with the bonding between mom and baby. There are lots of things that are factored into this. One being that the medications interfere with the natural hormonal responses to labor. It is the woman's hormones that cause immediate, overwhelming love. Also, a medicated baby isn't as responsive to mom and dad. We are an out of hospital birthing center. We offer very personalized care, with two hour prenatal visits. You also get to know exactly who will be at your birth, and you have a chance to get very close to those people. We also offer waterbirths, which aren't offered by any hospitals in the bay area. We do alot of education including a class on nutritionand exercise, we offer a 10 week childbirth education series, a class on the postpartum (after the baby is born) care for both mom and baby, and breastfeeding education.
