Bird York

With her dark, sandy vocals and lyrical bite, Bird York is probably best known for her Oscar nominated song IN THE DEEP from the this years Oscar winner Crash. (York sang the song live at this year's Academy Awards ceremony.) The cut is just one in a sensual and intoxicating collection of songs on York's, 2006 release, Wicked Little High (EMI). With hypnotic grooves under York's lilting melodies, the disc slips deep into your consciousness with a sound that Music Biz Magazine coined "torch trip hop".Wicked Little High includes collaborations with GRAMMY®-winning mixer engineer Thom Russo ( Macy Gray, Audioslave) and GRAMMY®-winning producer Larry Klein (Madeline Peyroux). Songs from the cd have been heard on the network television shows House, CSI:New York, In Justice, Nip Tuck as well as in the John Cusack-produced film Never Get Outta The Boat and soon to be featured in the Warner Brother's release SUBLIME which Bird also stars in opposite Tom Cavanagh (Love Monkey, Ed). Desperate Housewive's creator Marc Cherry was so taken with Bird's performance on the Oscars that he wrote a role for her on the show this season.
