Author and Teddy Bear Artist

About Me

Marianne Loyd was born in Norway, but she has lived many years abroad. As a child she went to ballet and art school and started to write poetry at age 11. Many years ago she came across a big Teddy Bear Fair and became so fascinated that she decided to make teddy bears herself in her spare time. As an animal friend and vegan she only makes teddy bears from fake fur-- "Real fur belongs on real animals! it is not for people to wear".Having a deep compassion for animal's well being and rights, which she feels is a very neglected issue. She has now been making teddy bears for ten years, making them only in a limited number or as one-of-a-kind, and also miniature teddy bears. One of her signature marks is the heart on the belly and the use of beads and sequins. She handcrafts each bear and places great emphasis to every detail. Each bear has its own personality with heart and soul. Every bear is made with TLC and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
To find out how you can help the real "Teddy Bears" in this world please go to Wildlife SOS, WSPA, Animal Asia Fondation or other animal rights sites. Become aware of the torture the bears have to endure. Fighting-bears in Pakistan, the torture in Japans bear parks, Bear hunting, Bears in the circus, Bear farming, the horrific and inhumane methods of bile extraction and body parts, Dancing bears etc. Also read about Bullfighting and other animal emergencies.

Book Description: Now published for the first time, "Thoughts From Old Walls" is a collection of over 40 poems by artist and writer Marianne Loyd. Through hope, dreams and memories, her poems cover a wide range of emotions but is also a commentary on the human condition.
Marianne's ability to observe the innate characteristics in nature, objects and people enables her to tell the stories that define moments in time that we all can recognize as somewhere we have at one time been; the sense of awe and wonder that we've all been captured by at some state in our lives, the feeling of despair and loss, the places we linger in between with the longing and questioning, or the sense of newfound hope and anticipation of the future.

Heroes:

I have often been asked are you a communist?. No I am not a communist or belong to any other political ideology because I think all political ideologies has failed humanity when they are put to practice by the people in power. That is why I admire Che Guevara as a fellow human being that said "The people's heroes cannot be separated from the people, cannot be elevated onto a pedestal, into something alien to the lives of that people"
Che Guevara is one of few political leaders to this day that have proven them selfs worthy of political power. He was very kind to people and helpful, never taking advantage of his position for personal gain. Unlike other head of state including the monarchies which is a subject all by itself.
Che Guevara practiced what he preached he worked with the people and for the people and he said "In these conditions, a great dose of humanity is needed, a sense of justice and truth, if we are not to fall in the trap of extreme dogmatism, of scholasticism or isolation from the masses. Every day you have to fight so that love for humanity can be transformed into concrete deeds, into acts that set an example, that mobilize"
Che Guevara saw that communism had its limitations. Che was a threat to the elite in both communism and among capitalism. He also said "How easy it is to govern when one follows a system of consulting the will of the people and one holds as the only norm all the actions which contribute to the well being of the people".
I personally think that the head of state should not live or eat better than the people they "rule" over. No expensive banquets from the tax payers money and lavish living beyond what their people have the opportunity to have. It doesn't help with good ideologies or promises when the people in charge doesn't practice what they preach but instead create another elite in this hierarchy.
This is a quote from Abraham Lincoln who said "Nearly all men can stand adversity. But if you want to test a man's character - give him power"
