If they must tell you they're good, they're not.

About Me

Hi, I'm Stu. I used to play drums in a couple of bands until August 2007. Sickened & demoralised by the other members attitudes & egos, I decided to leave the deluded, the lazy & the badly out of time behind to see what kind of response I might get for my own material here on Myspace.

I have been attempting to write my own stuff since about 2002, but I've only recently started trying to make proper sounding home demo's.
I record my own songs on my wee Tascam 8 track which used to be inside a cupboard in my kitchen, but I've now got a proper room.
I've explained the recording process in a bit more detail in my blog if anyone is at all interested, but in short I record all my tracks live from start to finish with real instruments apart from any orchestral strings which are Garage Band. This is a very time consuming process, but it gives me a more organic sound as no two bars of any instrument are played identically
Admittedly I'm not much of a singer, guitarist, bassist or pianist, but I enjoy having a go.
"IF THE EMOTION & INTENTION ARE RIGHT, THE NOTES YOU SING DON'T MATTER".(Roger Daltrey 2006)
YOU WILL FIND SOME OF MY OLDER TRACKS ON THIS REVERBNATION PLAYER.I'M ALSO AT afcollective.ning.com/profile/Stu.
A year ago I had never picked up either a bass or electric guitar & I certainly didn't have any plans to play my music live to anyone. Now as a result of the tremendous support & encouragement I have received from the friends I've made here on Myspace, I am working on a live acoustic based set with a view to gigging my material hopefully later this year.
I have enlisted the help of a guitarist/backing singer by the name of Peter Savage for future live performances, which I must say I'm really looking forward to, although it will be a bit strange not hiding behind a drum kit.
If there are any individual tracks you would like to download, please contact me & I will enable the download facility for you.
Please let me know what you think of my music so far, should I give up, keep going or f&@k off?
Any feedback is appreciated.
MY TOP FRIENDS.
Unfortunately I can't make everyone my TOP friends, If I could I would.
I have tried to keep it to people who actually correspond with me, either just having a laugh, or people who have given me advice or encouragement. Some of my top friends are friends in real life too. I have also chosen people whose music has touched or inspired me over the years. I've tried not to make it a gallery of famous people just to appear on my profile front page.
As I can't remember anything anymore, please leave a comment if you've just added me, so I know who my newest friends are & I can comment back after checking out your tunes.
Cheers.
S.

Influences: Way too many to mention & bore you with.I bought my first acoustic guitar years ago after being blown away watching Nirvana & Crowded House do unplugged sessions on MTV.For song writing, it would have to be Turin Brakes. I wrote my first song after hearing The Optimist CD.
For drumming the main guy for me was Keith Moon, I learned to play by listening to The Who's My generation (Album) & Please please me (Beatles first album).
I've grown up loving Paul Wellers music too, so I'd also have to add Steve White & Rick Buckler.
I liked Kenny Jones in The Small Faces but NOT in The Who!
