Barbara Cavaleri Barbara made her musical debut with the album "Ad un passo dal sogno" (October 2006, Lagash/Edel). The first track extracted from the album is "Perchè", a song written by Jobim-De Moraes-Bardotti, which was brought to the italian audience by the great Sergio Endrigo during the 60's. Barbara says about her album: "this work is the arrival point of a wonderful dream. It is a dream I have pursued since I was a Child. I think its quality comes from the fusion between the traditional Italian song-writing tradition and a new remastering world. I hope this album will make some noise!" Barbara D'Agostino, artistically Barbara Cavaleri, her mother's surname, was born in Novara on December 7th 1983. She is a qualified psychologist, trained at the Psychological Institute of Novara. She began her musical studies at 10 years of age at the Academy of Music frequenting clarinet and classical choir courses. At the same time she moved her first steps on the musical stage performing classical exibitions. She soon began to study modern and gospel singing. She aquired a profound knowledge of the singing technique thanks to Paul Rosette and through him Barbara began working as a gospel music singer untill the age of 18. In the process she discovered the secrets of live performance and at the age of 18 she succesfully tried to qualify for a musical academy. She took part as lead actor in the musicals "Anything goes" and "Annie", moreover she also performed a minor role in "Singing in the Rain". During this period she did not stop her studies and thanks by Manuela Ravaglioli, she mastered the jazz technique and extended her musical knowledge. In 2002 Barbara meets Leziero Rescigno and Lagash, already members of the "La crus", an Italian band which changes the Italian musical landscape using elctronics and self composed lyrics. They immediately began their musical research, together with the producer and pianist Ugo De Crescenzo. Barbara today is produced by Lagash, her arrangemets are created by Leziero Rescigno, but she also continues to work with Ugo De Crescenzo on other projects as composer and author of lirics. The album "Ad un passo dal sogno" is the ingenious meeting between Barbara's voice , her conceptual work and important authors like Alex Cremonesi (La Crus) and Imma Costanzo. The first to give life to the project was Alessio Bertallot, who played some of the album's tracks during his radio program "b-side", on air every day on Radio Deejay. He also included "Perchè" in his compilation ALTRISUONITALIANI(V2) pubblished in May 2006.
