The beauty of the old stadium!
Us scottish are very passionate people, especially about football.
Hampden Park is a great stadium with a great history. One problem! The amount of money spent when it got re-constructed was very well spent, we've got a 5 star stadium. The problem is the fact that it's ONLY 52,000 capacity. When we say ONLY I mean in comparison to what it once was.
Hampden Park is the worlds oldest international football ground, and at one time it was the largest football ground in the world. A nice example being:1937 - Attendance 149,415 : Scotland v EnglandNow 149,425 in comparison to 52,000. That is why we say only! Over the last few years our attendances did drop, but take our famous 1-0 win over the French last year. It was a sellout crowd. We're on a high (both in spirit and top of the group!). Take into account that victory with even a 80,000 capacity stadium. It would definitley be full. If we could look to the future and say that we'll have a famous victory over Italy in the coming months and had a stadium of 150,000; How full would it be? In our eyes it would be filled to the MAX!!!
Who wants to experience that world famous Hampden Roar that many of us are too young to remember. How many people that were lucky enough to experience it would love it back. Join us on myspace and lets see if we can make a difference! Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games?? We have 7 years to convince an expansion and maybe hold the Games in a better/larger stadium.Pass the word on and lets see how many people we can get! Add us to your friends list!!
