Dean began singing at an early age, he moved on to study several instruments. At age 8 Dean began to work with Shanon Gilbert at, " His Vineyard" a piano studio in the Biltmore, NC area. After relocating to South Carolina, Dean began to work with Pianist Cybil Lingo. At this time Dean felt the need to expand his musical studies, he was accepted to work with Dr. Julia Quick of South Carolina State University in the strings department. Since his studies Dean has grasp a greater concept and understanding of music than before. It wasn't until 2000 that Dean relized he was a countertenor, from there he began to study voice. A countertenor sings in the highest register of the male voice, it's neither a male or female register. Dean will begin to study with soprano Andrea Blough of the Ashville Lyric Opera this 2007 summer quarter. Please feel free to leave comments about Dean's work.
