Blinders up high we're the Dreamers.

About Me

Ahoyhoy, my name's Dwight, and this is my record label: Royal Rhino Flying Records. Working since early 2007, I've managed to establish the label as a sort of informal creative collective, communicating with a variety of musicians and organizations all over the world. Though I work largely by myself these days, my great friend Tony Tooke (the mainstay of the stunning Electric Mystical Soul Vibration who I've been collaborating with for a while now) does a lot as our inhouse mastering and production officer... I also have to offer a neuter thank you to my variety of other friends who are groovy mcawesome. Right now my primary ambition here is to release the music of bands I enjoy and admire, whatever form or origin it might have, and I hope that I can do something in that vein for the rest of my life.
As a label though, I feel that my focus (as I currently constitute the mainstay of our creative department) musically is on the wonderful variety of indie/psychedelic pop and ambient/experimental genres, but I can generally enjoy almost every type of music imaginable, even country if it's done right (and it generally isn't). Working with that sort of material, our plans include a good load of CDs, annual compilations, and even some vinyl.
In doing this, it's been my goal to operate on a small scale, and distribute our music as simply as posssible... to that end, the vast majority of our releases will be small, and the lion's share of products will be available at shows and what not, although we will be getting some help from a few of our friends in distribution as well. Beyond that, we're trying to think of the most creative ways possible to get our releases out to you, and I'm sure some neat methods will pop-up, so keep your eyes peeled!
Demo Policy: As I've lately been getting a lot of messages regarding our demo policy and sending stuff in, it's become necessary for me to outline that aspect of the label a bit formally. I'm personally happy to receive anything that you might have to send me and considering the nature of our operations, there'll rarely be a time when you're certain of a negative response... if nothing else, I'll do my best to advise you, or if I liked the material a lot but couldn't work with it, write up a review for you to use (I may not be famous, but the people... they know me). So, just send me a message expressing your interest and describing you and your project in a little detail, and I'll supply you with an address where you can send me some material or a previous release... I wont refuse to listen to songs on myspace as a demo, but I very much prefer hard copies of anything I'm asked to consider, as I've been blessed with a tremendously high quality sound system that makes up for all of my own shortcomings in the ear department.
