Midget And Hairs

Let's get numb and forgetful!

About Me

Midget and Hairs is the musical endeavor of Paige Dearman. Paige began playing music in 1992, while working for her college radio station, KLPI of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. Here she met fellow Ruston musicians who were also just starting to play music; bands like Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, Sunshine Fix, The Gerbils, etc. In 1995, she relocated to Denver and recorded her first 7" entitled Cactus Screwballs which was released on Den Mother Records in early 1996. It was mixed and mastered by Robert Schneider. Some additional players on the single were Robert Schneider (Apples in Stereo, Orchestre Fantastique, The Marbles), Hilarie Sidney (Apples in Stereo, The high water marks), Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) and Will Cullen Hart (The Olivia Tremor Control, Circulatory System). Midget and Hairs was also included on a compilation of local Denver artists released by Stupid Records, featuring her song Stardaisy. Later in 1996, Paige moved to Seattle and began work on her second 7" I'm a Big Kid Now which was a split 7". This time Paige had some additional help from friend Andy Gonzales (Marshmallow Coast, Of Montreal). Each of the 7"s were hand colored by paige and andy. No cover is alike! These records were then distributed through cargo and parasol records! Paige moved back to Louisiana. She was asked to contribute to a compilation on Earworm Records. In 2000, Songs For A Crimson Egg Tree was released featuring 2 Midget and Hairs songs Penny Whistle and Goodbye Ethel Malloy. Paige has opened shows for bands such as chocolate usa, apples in stereo, pebble, neutral milk hotel, olivia tremor control, the softies, and elliott smith. Paige now lives in Austin, Texas, works at the Austin State Hospital and records and paints at home in her spare time. She is currently working on her next seven-inch. As of 2007 Paige has started a new band with two other fellow musicians christina and amber! Paige did briefly have a band named Exibit B Static Shade but they currently aren't recording anymore and have gone there seperate ways. Fear not midget and hairs stands quite strong and will continue to exist. Look for a compilation coming out soon by royal rhino flying records that will hold the only song in existence to be released by Exhibit b static shade with the feature track, "I'll meet you at gymnastics." There will also be a midget and hairs song on the same compilation. Truth be told look for the first ever full length album out in the fall by midget and hairs on royal rhino flying records. I'll keep you posted on the latest news. The album is due out in october and the shell (art work has been completed).
