About Me

I am not an American Indian, not in this lifetime anyway, but I do have a passion for their music and culture. I have been making American Indian Style Flutes for 10 years now and probably playing them with passion for at least 7 years. The haunting qualities of the flute are a pure joy to listen to and one can easily lose oneself in the magic of the moment. I do not play this instrument from sheet music, this is not how they were traditionally played, what I feel at the time and what my heart tells me to play are what you will hear. This also applies to any other instrument I like to play....................................................I have fun playing and recording my music and if others get enjoyment from my music, then I am happy, I have at least given of myself to other than myself...................................................... .....................I do currently have 2 music CDs and also 3 instructional DVDs, one on how to make a Native American Style Flute, another on how to play the NA Flute and the third on how to make a medicine drum and others. I also make flutes to order and have a Flute Kit available which comes complete with a flute blank bored out, rounded over and ready for you to place the finger holes, tune and finish off. This is easily accomplished by viewing the instructional DVD included in the kit. The kit also has a Block for the fetish and a leather tie to tie the block to the flute. The Instructional DVD also has hard copy sheets with relevant written information and various drawings to help you when not viewing the DVD......................................................... Band Members: Leadingshield (Bill) primarily, but I do have friends who come to my home on the odd occasion to have a good old jam session and I will at times record some of the session.
Influences: Robert Tree Cody, Douglas Spotted Eagle, Peter Phippen, Charles Littleleaf, any good flute player, Mother Nature, My Heart, any Drum, such as Bear Creek and Pipestone. Plus, having been a drummer in many Scottish Pipe Bands I also love the "Skirl 'O' the Pipes" and any Celtic, Gaelic music. I love any good drum rhythms with which I can connect with spirit and my flutes.
