About Me

Hi! My first mystery novel, Death of an Obnoxious Tourist, (see book cover) was published by Five Star in June '06 and my next one, Death of a Lovable Geek will be out probably May '08. These are travel mysteries, the first set in Italy, the second in Scotland, the third (which I'm now working on) takes place on a cruise ship in the Aegean.I'm a retired science teacher, now able to devote full time to writing what I've always loved to read--traditional mysteries.I spend very little time cleaning house, doing yard work, shopping or anything else I don't want to do. I travel a lot. I'm going to Egypt this month and last year I visited England and Spain. My most recent accomplishment is losing 17 pounds and getting back into my favorite jeans!

My Interests

Travel. Hunting for gems and minerals, Mysteries. Paleontology. Archaeology. Cats. Dogs. Poisons (only as research for my stories) Botany.

I'd like to meet:

Other writers. Anyone out there who is, like me, a fan of mysteries. Folks who like to travel.

Music:

I like classic rock. Eric Clapton, Sting, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Stray Cats, Bach, Yo Yo Ma, Paul Simon. Ella Fitzgerald. Depends on what mood I'm in.

Movies:

I haven't seen a movie I really liked since "Finding Nemo."

Television:

I use TV for background noise. I rarely look at the screen.

Books:

Anything by Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Dorothy L. Sayers, and most books by John Dickson Carr. I know that as a writer I'm supposed to have hated DaVinci Code, but actually, I liked it.

Heroes:

Stephen Hawking. Agatha Christie. Ron Howard. My Dad.

My Blog

I got tagged!

I just came home from Malice Domestic in Washington, DC and found that I was tagged by Charles Benoit. Rules are: grab the closest book, go to page 123, count down 5 sentences and type the next three ...
