REIGN THE ITALIAN- THE POETPublished author, Reign the Italian, was born in South City Saint Louis, Missouri in an Italian neighborhood called The Hill. He never really grew up in one specific area, but has lived in diverse areas that have influenced his music such as Boston, Miami, Atlanta and Los Angeles. By moving around so often Reign has been influenced by many artists including Pearl Jam, Tupac, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine, Jay-Z, Nas, Ozzy Osbourne and even George Strait.Another factor that has influenced Reign’s music and writing has to do with his struggles growing up being the product of a single parent in a lower income home. His mother remarried and moved them out to the suburbs, which was a major turning point in his life. His step father was a respected businessman while his biological father was a hustler and had connections to the Mexican and local Italian Mafia. He grew up with two educations; one from the streets and one from school. He learned mostly from the streets.Daze of Depression, his first collection of poems, was born from of his addiction and pain. Reign had put together the poems he had written during a dark period in his life caused by his addiction to pills. After hitting rock bottom and getting his life back on track Reign has been sober for two years and plans on never going back.These are lyrics like nothing you have ever heard before. It is pure poetry. It is pure hip-hop. Reign speaks of real emotions that people feel but are unable to put into words. It will take you on a roller coaster ride and give you an experience you never had. Reign sounds like no one else.Reign’s goal is to bring back real music and real hip-hop.
