About Me

Rom, Romuald Tual (a.k.a. ro3) electronic musician, born in France in 1970.
Deejay, improvisator, live or studio musician, I like to play with sound withmulti-esthetism, solo or with friends. To explore sound and sculpt it to extract pulsations, emotions and colours.
Impassioned of sound and more precisely of his electronics, I began the music as anautodidact with the practice of the sound synthesis and the fine sampler of the Eighties. The Techno arrivals in Europe with influenced my artistic step since I officiated much behindof turntables (under the name of deejay Rom) like into live lasting of many "spaces" named"raves".I continue besides with mixer and to occur live with his Techno/electro, under the name of703 (Rom).

However the sound field of exploration that offers the electronic stringed-instrument tradebrought me, during multiple meetings, to diversify my musical approach. The bridges thus thrown between electro, electroacoustic and contemporary consequently seemedobvious to me.
Moreover the advent and the practice these ten last years of musical data processing havingbrought new tools relating to the treatment of the sound, today I continue to explore various"languages" and various esthetics, only or accompanied.
The mixture of the multiple forms of artistic expression being to my direction future of thespectacle, in various forms: multi-media, multiduffusing, movies-concert, dance...
"Work in progress"...

20 000 under the seas :
Cine Concert orchestra / electronic [ Musical day 2005 at Minsk, Belaruss - Embassy ofFrance - art gallery Terres des Hommes ]
Silent Film of Stuart Paton (1916) according to the novel of Jules Verne .
Originale music by Bruno Letort and Jean-Michel Hervé with National Orchestra of Ballet andOpera Belaruss under driving of Andreï Galanov Originale electronic and electroacoustic(quadriphony) by romuald tual a.k.a. ro3
It is into 1916 that the first cinematographic version, in black and white, leaves on thescreens. Stuart Paton then signed an adaptation rather free, but very succeeded, at the sametime of "20 000 miles under the seas" and of "the mysterious Island", which obtained aconsiderable success thanks to the first underwater catches of sight of the Williamsonbrothers, rounds in the Bahamas.
It managed to recreate accurately the atmosphere of Jules Verne while weaving his intriguestarting from several extraordinary Voyages, which makes this version one of the bestfilmographic adaptations of Jules Verne.

Streaming / Les Machines heureuses (happy machines):
electroacoustic / electronic concert
Christian Zanési (electroacoustic, diffusion), ro3 (electronic, diffusion).
For several years we have undertaken the composition of a vast whole of parts initiated by areflexion of Roland Barthes "In fact the happy machines rustle". On each new occasion, wecontinue and enrich this work in progress. Into the liking of the circumstances, we integratenew sounds into it by never not losing sight of the fact the general spirit.

Around 3 gardens (improvisations) : multi-media performance
Serge Adam (trumpet, electronic), ro3 (electronic), Gilles Coronado (guitar, electronic),Benoît Delbecq (samplers, bass et drum station), Eric Vernhes (video, electronic) DjengoHartlap (quadriphony).
The electronic treatment and video events question each other. Composition intervenes withtimbre transformation and also with rhythmic modes, sequences of sound objects and musicalstructures. The expression and artistic sensitivity of the players generate a totallyinteractive performance between the sound and the image. The musicians use the machines as anelectronic extension of an improvisatory thought in real time. Here there are no prepared «beat sequences » to settle on but rather original « samples » (prepared in advance) that theyrelease in the heat of the action during a concert to feed the musical matter underconstruction, the electronics being its own source of inspiration for the soloists.
An original spatial setup of the musicians position the spectators at the center of thedevice, reinforcing the perception of the spatialisation of the sound sources (quadriphony). This new occupation of the space - gathering the artists and the audience (also filmed)together - generates a new perception of sounds and images where the spectator becomes thecentral point of the interactive performance.

Electroduo : Accordion and electronic
Pascal Contet (accordion), ro3 (electronic), Thierry Coduys (quadriphony)
The accordion agrees with Pascal Contet and ro3: Concert in collaboration with the labelSignature of Radio France. My recent collaborations engaged in one repertory for accordionand electronics, gave me the desire for widening them in contact with an electronic musician. But how to approach the techniques of its current with the profit of an electronic musicmoving without losing itself in a result only "dancing techno"? Who to find to prepare thisresearch enters the pleasure of the sound, the rate/rhythm and the improvisation with two? This questioning found answer in the person of Romulad Tual (Ro3)

Techno space piano :Multiphonic piano concert and turntables
Denis Levaillant (electroacoustic, piano), Marc Piera (sound projection), ro3 (preparetedturntables + specific records from piano sounds), Nicolas Simonin (lights)
“A meeting between two atypical creators: Ro3 which works on possible fusions that offer theelectronic music and Denis Levaillant one of the contemporary musicians most facetious ofthese last years whose inspiration could be on the one hand between Keith Jarret and TerryRiley, and on the other hand the performance in all its splendour: does not play startingfrom its piano with 24 loudspeakers and the light?
Thus it tries to work in what one could call the “spatialization of the extreme”: the soundis multi there diffused, lighting also forms part of the markers of space and includes it ofa kind of improvisation, but the meeting with a deejay makes the experiment even richer andwill take you along towards musical shores, turns, devastations, dreams or raves…
Should all be awaited similar musicians. Levaillant goes even further after many spectacles,it worked with decorations of Enki Bilal to the presentation of its opera: O.P.A. Mia, inAvignon. Ro3 will give the techno touch' to its set, still a new way which this wizard ofthe French techno will open. “
(Michel Redolfi, extract of the program festival Manca 98 ).
