War is Over! if you want it...

About Me

MyGen Profile Generator
My name is Mike. I live in Brown Deer, WI, which is just outside Milwaukee. I like movies, music, and politics. I am a college grad. I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. When I was 2 weeks old I had a tumor growing behind my eye and they had to remove my rt. eye to remove the tumor. I have had a prosthetic eye ever since.
When I was around a year and a half, we moved to Beloit, WI. My younger sister was born there. My younger sis' name is Pam and she was born Feb. 14, 1979. I have an older sis who was born on Feb. 29, 1972. Her name is Cherry. She was born with brain damage and has Cerebral Palsey. She has lived in homes all her life. When I was about 8 years old we moved to Waupaca, Wisconsin.
My folks divorced when I was about 12. My mom, Cindy, got remarried shortly thereafter. I lived with my dad, Don. My sis went to live with my mom. My dad and I then moved a couple more times. Once right after the divorce and then the last time my senior year of high school. In '94, the beginning of my Sr. year of High school we moved to Germantown, WI.
After high school, I attended a Christian college out of state called Asbury. Asbury college had some links to the church I attended at the time. I got a church scholarship. The college also seemed less extreme than others I had researched and since my dad insisted I go to a Christian college I went to Asbury. Asbury College is located in Kentucky. The county was a dry county. Blah.
It was a college town in the fact that when the college was not in session there was barely anybody left there. I loved KY. The winters were warm. I didn't care for it being in the bible belt. I also felt the conservative politics of the region were really constricting. College for me was a time for growth in that the way that I thought and my politics really changed. I became more liberal and became more concerned about human rights.
I graduated college in '99 with a BA in Media Communications with an emphasis in production. I almost had a minor in Theatre Arts but I had to drop it as the one class I needed was not going to be offered again my senior year. I did direct a couple of college productions. I co-directed a Christmas themed dinner theatre production and I directed several monologues from Eric Bogosian's "Pounding Nails in The Floor With My Forehead"
I moved back home where I stayed until the end of Aug. '01. My dad had urged me to find a job quickly and I have been at the same one since college. I work at a local grocery store on 3rd shift. I have had difficulties trying to find something in communication though I have tried but to no avail. I'm still looking for something else but I'm almost writing off anything to do with the media. I do have a great love of film and my dream job would be to be a professional film critic.
