About Me

I BLOCK ALL MYSPACE EMAIL IN ORDER TO ENCOURAGE MY FRIENDS TO READ MY BLOGS AND USE THEM TO MAKE COMMENTS. MY CLOSEST FRIENDS USE EMAIL AND PHONE TO CONTACT ME.

I am a rational empiricist, "extreme" risk analyst, non-violence practitioner and epistemologist.

If you want to be completely technical, I'm single, however, my life is so complicated I'm not going to get into it here. I might as well be in a relationship, so I say that on my profile. I have a lot of in-person friends who I owe visits, so my online friends have to spend considerable time exchanging ideas before I will even think about creating a more intimate friendship. I like that to be by public comments on my ideas rather than private myspace email or chat. That way the world may benefit and I avoid getting harassed by spam as much.

Welcome to my Art Gallery

If you base your happiness on what you think others think, you are insane, because you can not read the minds of others. If you base your happiness on what others say, you are insane, because people say many cruel things. If you base your happiness on what others do, you are insane because people do many cruel things. If you base your happiness on what others do to you you are insane because the world is filled with many arbitrary acts of both cruelty and kindness, and you are then at their mercy. If you base your happiness on what you do you are insane because life often forces us to do many unpleasant tasks. If you base your happiness on hurting others you are insane and many will attest to this. If you base your happiness on needing to help others, you are insane because many do not accept your kindness. If you base your happiness on what you think, but do not take care of yourself, you are insane. If you are unaware of the world around you you are insane because you are not protecting yourself from reasonable harms of an often unkind world. Only if you think and act kindly to yourself and others, in awareness and acceptance of the world around you with all its sham and drudgery are you sane. It is a difficult path in the sometimes kind, sometimes cruel world but at the same time the easiest path.

This page is an art gallery that Newscorp seems willing to sponsor. My friends, doodles and musings are the artwork.
I like to invent and make scientific and commercial electronic gadgets and often muse about politics, philosophy and the human condition. I'm a pacifist in the tradition of Bertrand Russell. I believe humans have the opportunity to create earthly paradise if we can evolve past our primordial tendency towards violent conflict.
Remember that no one is beyond reproach, but reproach is beyond compassion.
Tell a good lie and people will flock to you and touch the hem of your garment -- treat you like a god before they slay you to claim it as their own. But tell the truth and they will avoid you like the plague, and treat you as a pariah, until you are the last man standing with no one left to laugh with but the god in the mirror. Beware of the truth, for its telling leaves you lonely. But in your loneliness you will have the satisfaction of having not misled other poor fools to their certain demise. Be aware that truth may be the lines between that which you read and write, hear and speak, but it is there, staring out at you with beckoning lure. Once you begin to discover it, it is a growing puzzle. There is a great temptation to use it to cover other lies behind which you may seek to hide and then it will swallow you whole and leave behind nothing but a clever tale for the laughter of others. If that is your fate, so be it. Your journey will at least have been filled with intrigue and passion. Fiction was created to please the clever, and tease the naive. It is sometimes difficult to discover it in words for they are filled with duplicity both by having been said and heard amiss. What better fool of an audience is one who utters truth to the echoes of an empty cave, and what better gentleman or woman is one who entertains with cunning lies that are not represented as otherwise. Give your truths and your fictions with equal generosity, and let fools be deceived and the wise enlightened, but claim no truth in words that are said. Simply say the things that feel compelling, and let the truth unfold what may in telling.
All words in this profile of my creation, blogs and otherwise are original material concocted from the madness of my idiocy and genius unless otherwise stated. They should be treated as "Copyleft" and distributed freely with thanks given to the lunatic from whence they sprung forth in all their purulence and glory. If they contain useful wisdom and truth, it is with the aforementioned caveats.

Truth

For strangers, assume 50% of what you hear is an outright lie.  25% is distorted and the teller doesn't know the truth.  25% is unbelievable but true -- your natural tendency is to doubt it....
