About Me
Hello friends!... I am Ingrid, "Biserova" because I am Biser's daughter.... I was born in Havana, Cuba into a musical family. My dad, a bulgarian cellist and mom a cuban singer, injected me with that love for music. Growing up in Cuba, Bulgaria and Mexico gave me a blend of cultures and traditions that I hold dear to my heart!... It was in Mexico where I began playing cello, and of course dad was my first teacher. Later on, I joined the Vida y Movimiento School of Music where Bozena Slawinska and Alan Durbeq became my teachers... During those years at the Music School, I got to attend Master Classes with Stefan Popov, Alan Smith, Wolfgang Boettcher and Yo-Yo Ma... A few years later, I got the opportunity to go to The Meadowmount School of Music in New York and take lessons with Tanya Carey for a summer. It was a life changing experience! The atmoshphere and the level of all the students there was fantastic.....of course cello lessons in English were lots of fun and I wanted more :-) ...Soon after, I was awarded a Full Scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi where I graduated with honors, earning a degree in Music Performance under the guidance of Rebekah Stark and Paul York... During my time in Mississippi, I performed widely as a member of the Gulf Coast Symphony, The Meridian Symphony, The Pensacola Symphony and played under personalities like Itzhak Perlman, Leslie Parnas, Doc Severinsen, Ellis Marsalis, Natalie Cole, Rod Stewart and premiered a piece by Samuel Adler at The Lincoln Center in New York City with the USM Symphony Orchestra. Quite the trip :-) ...In 1998 I came to Milwaukee to pursue my Masters degree at The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee studying with Wolfgang Laufer and The Fine Arts Quartet... Other artists I was lucky to accompany include Maxim Vengerov, Josh Groban, Melissa Manchester, Charlotte Church, Three Dog Night among others... Now Milwaukee is my home and I stay very active playing with The Green Bay, Festival City, Waukesha and Racine Symphony Orchestras. I love teaching and keep an accomplished private cello studio... Thanks for visiting this little part of my world and for making it even wider!!! This is a wonderful opportunity to keep us all close even though we might be far away. Hugs to all!!!!
