I'm a secret singer and a self-taught guitarist; i picked up the instrument about 2 years ago when i was listening to john prine and thought 'i could do that'. i may not be as funny as him (and the stories still aren't twice as long as the songs) but i'm working on it. i started writing 'proper' songs late in 2006 in my first year out of high school, and things just keep getting..more..interesting. i guess the whole world's a learning curve. so i've just moved to lovely, changeable melbourne, really just to give myself a bigger area in which to make mistakes. starting to realise the greeks knew what they were on about with all that 'nothing in excess' business. balance is the key! except the only things i'm managing to balance are my excesses, the most notable of which is music. and its seeming a whole lot more important now that i'm on my own.
