M&M provides opportunities to Philadelphia youth to explore and develop their musical creativity, self-expression and abilities through music appreciation, instruction and performance. They also offer theatre arts and martial arts training. M&M began in the wake of the Philadelphia public school system cutting their music and arts programs during the mid-nineties due to a history of budget problems and limited financial resources.
Philly for Philly acknowledges the unique character of the Philadelphia creative community, but also the urgency to supplement Public school music & arts education. This event is a step towards improving opportunities for young artists to grow, as well as, strengthening the current Philadelphia Music & Arts scene.
Philly for Philly sponsors include PhillyCarShare, Sam Ash, University of the Arts, 215HipHop, Comporto Communitcations, Educated Guess, realizePhiladelphia, and Vurj media.
