Carytown is an eclectic retail district and neighborhood lining W. Cary Street between Thompson and Boulevard in Richmond, Va. The area has more than 300 restaurants and shops with tons of character that can't be found in shopping malls. Carytown started in the 1930s with the Cary Court Shopping Center and has bloomed into the "Georgetown of Richmond." Notable landmarks include the historic Byrd Theatre, which plays second-run films for only $2. The Museum District is just north of Carytown. It is named for its many museums, including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Virginia Historical Society.
To honor a family that meant so much to Carytown, consider donating to the Bryan and Kathryn Harvey Family Memorial Endowment to provide music, visual art and performing arts enrichment in the Richmond area.
