Jesse Saint James is a Nashville based artist with show business in her blood. A multi faceted artist, Jesse’s artistic bloodlines include her great grandfather Paul Fredrick Volland who founded P.F. Volland publishing company and published the Raggedy Ann and Andy series. Jesse’s grandmother Virginia Volland who was an actress that appeared with Al Jolson, Dorothy Gish and Lloyd Nolan. Virginia went on to become a Broadway costume designer costuming The Bad Seed, Sunrise At Campobello and A Rasin In The Sun among others. Virginia was also an author whose book Designing Women was published by Doubleday. Jesse’s grandfather Mervyn Williams was a Hollywood and Broadway actor who appeared in 15 Hollywood films including Julius Caesar, Naked City and the controversial Salt Of The Earth.
Born in Miami, FL to this show business family Jesse traveled to Europe as a child living in Spain and England. Jesse started modeling in her teens and started a career that brought her to Paris and was even the face of an Air France marketing campaign. Upon returning home to Florida, Jesse started a photography/promotion company called Rembrandt in the fashionable Hyde Park district of Tampa, FL. Jesse freelanced as a photographer, journalist and stylist and worked for several prestigious Florida music publications including JAM, Music Forum and Focus. Jesse interviewed and photographed many artists during this period including Matchbox 20 and the Rolling Stones.
Shortly thereafter Jesse began working with Peter Bennett the promotional manager for the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Bennett has the distinction of being the only promotions manager to work simultaneously with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Peter recognized Jesse’s musical talent and encouraged a singing career.
Jesse next worked as an associate producer at Unity Pictures, a independent film company at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL. During this period Jesse worked with Dan Myrick (Blair Witch Project) and on several music videos. Jesse then set her sights on Music City moving to Nashville in 2005. She started writing with many Nashville songwriters including Ken Summerville (RPM Publishing) and began recording the songs that would make up her debut record. A power-pop/rock artist Jesse Saint James is bringing a little rock-n-roll to the country music capital, watch for her debut record in 2008.
