Weird Film Society and Festival of St. Augustine

Cinema fantastique!

About Me

The Weird Film Society of St. Augustine was founded on the evening of January 19th, 2007, after a screening of El laberinto del Fauno, by two friends with a mutual love of strange and marvellous cinema and a desire to share little known films.

We hold free public screenings the first Monday of each month in the conference room of the St. Johns County Public Library (Main Branch). Our screenings are listed in Folio Weekly and Drift Magazine - but the best way to find out what we're showing and when is to add us to your friend list, so we can send you information and updates about what we're doing.

Coming soon: the first annual Weird Film Festival of St. Augustine:

What we're looking for:
What do we mean by "weird film"?
From Miriam-Webster:
weird: of, relating to, or caused by witchcraft or the supernatural: MAGICAL, of strange or extraordinary character: ODD, FANTASTIC.
We seek films that speak from and to the imagination. We want films to make us dream. We are not concerened with narrative realism. We want to see your most beautiful, grotesque and outre fantasies up on the screen. Films must be weird of atmosphere, incident or both. Films within the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres will be considered. So will erotic films, which - when they are good - emerge from fantasy and daydream. Unclassifiable films of a supremely bizarre nature are prized above all.
We are accepting submissions of any running time and of any shooting format. Screening format must be DVD or DVD-R.
We are determined to keep this festival 100% free. Free to attend, free to participate. No admission, no fees.
Please contact us if you're interested.
