I joined our Lancaster, S.C. Humane Society in Feb.2008
GREAT THINGS WILL COME FOR OUR FURRY FRIENDS, WE ARE
TRYING TO GET TAPPED INTO MORE RESCUE/TRANSPORTS
THE ANIMALS CAN'T SPEAK OUT IN THEIR BEHALF, BUT THE HUMANE SOCIETY CAN AND WILL.
Successful Transport: 20 puppies and dogs went on transport last weekend! (2/09/08)

Although I believe all my life since I was a small girl
I have rescued one critter or the other, from rabbits
to turtles
(funny story sorta, Turtle is on road, I stop
car pick turtle up and put in passenger floor board, this
turtle starts toward me hissing, so I put him in the trunk of my car til I got home which was 1/2 mile, well open
trunk, turtle gone oh no where is he?
So I call my Mammaw, and she and I and another friend had to get a long measuring stick and go down the window as he had slid over the wheel thingy inside the trunk and couldn't get back up, this other person gets the measuring stick and tells me to get in trunk and let them know when the turtle is up over the wheel thingy, well one good swoosh!!!!!!!

yell HE IS HERE!!!... Well, I took the turtle to a pond
and said well I hope you appreciate this, you alive at least)
NO MORE TURTLES GO IN TRUNK... now when I see a turtle in the road, I pull over, grab turtle and put him way off the road in the direction he was going.
AND... Forever, taking in puppies and dogs people put
out, it was always, Daddy can I keep it? Oh right you
think Dad would say you have enough, but, my Dad had a
big heart too, he was always bringing home a stray dog
from the Moose Lodge he use to go to.

This is Trace, he is a soft baby Black Lab looking for
his forever Mom and/or Dad to come get him.
He's so sweet. Independent, not too rowdy. He's like still waters, I guess, compared to the other rowdeos in his litter! He is about 10 weeks old now, and will be a big guy. He's had one shot 12/18 and will hve another one this week. He's been wormed regularly. Socialized to other dogs/people.. . been lettin' him sleep inside these cold nights. He will have to be neutered, and there's a low-cost option available if you live close by. $10 adoption fee plus a $40 refundable spay/neuter deposit which will be refunded to you once he's neutered by vet of your choice. Hello;
I am writing on behalf of the sweetest senior mastiff/mastiff mix. Duke is a big love and he is in the Burlington County Animal Shelter in southern NJ.
Duke was left outside most of his life, and at 10 years old he has been surrendered to the shelter by the person who kept him outside all his life due to the owner's terminal illness.
Duke has been diagnosed with heart-worm.
Duke is going to run out of time in the shelter he is in. We are desperate to get him out to a loving foster home or wonderful rescue who can help Duke. Please help us help him. Duke deserves to spend his golden years as a treasured and loved part of a family.
I know these pics are horrible, and new ones will be taken out of the cage when I visit on Saturday. Please pass on this info on to anyone you know who would consider helping this lovable dog who deserves a good life, healthy, safe, loved and cared for.
Please help before he runs out of time. I can contribute to his vetting costs.

I saw a little dog that needed a
sponsor to keep from being put down,
What I saw that little face, something
just clicked with me and I just had
to give to give her some time to have a chance.
I wrote and inquired on her status
and was told that good news a Rescue
had come and she is out of that pound
and in a Rescue Shelter. Now prayers
are that little 402 as they numbered her
but, I call her Patty, I hope she will find
a forever home. You can see #402(Patty)

Gorda the Skipperkee's human parents were on the road and would not be able to return for a month, their little dog got deathly sick and I took Gorda to the vet, but after trying to save Gorda, the
vet called me and told me to take this little dog home there was nothing else they could do.
I was not going to give up on her, I got on the Internet and found a site that talked about Cottage Cheese, Flax Oil and a probiotic,,

Cottage Cheese, Flax Oil & Acidolphus Saved Dog's Life
Hi, My name is Sandy and I'm 56 years old. I have 5 dogs
of my own, I have one dog a mix Newfoundland (his name is Goliath) I rescued him from
our Lancaster County Animal Shelter, he was a puppy and was going to be gassed.
I saw this little black fur ball and said NO WAY you going
to kill him, put him in my car, as I drove off my heart
broke cause I could not save more.
I also have a mixed Pit Bull/Lab dog, he was thrown from
a car and ran around the neighborhood, he got hit by a
car, he came to my house all messed up and I took him
to the vet due to cuts and his hip had been dislocated.
Later he suffered a seizure the vet said this could be
the only seizure then again he could have more, we would
just have to watch.
The mix terrier is a little black dog (name is Jack) that his owners
decided they didn't want anymore, and the folks neighbors
complained because Jack is a barker, however, where I live
folks around my area have dogs, and I am surrounded all the way with woods, so helps lol to muffle the bark.
The same place that Jack came from I had gotten my
Jack Russell his name is Scooter, he is a smart little
fella, and will win your heart, he has everyone that
has met him.
Then I have an elderly cocker spaniel she is the only
female dog I have but she rules these boy dogs.
UPDATE in year 2007 The Cocker Spaniel (Ginger, passed
away)
I have a few stray cats that have adopted me, one I had
to bottle feed as she was 3 weeks old (her name is Heidi) and her mom had abandoned her
as I found her all alone in my woods, the rest of the
kittens had been moved. I had seen the mom a couple days
earlier moving kittens out of my woods, across the road
into the woods that are across from my house.
UPDATE: April of year 2007 I rescued from the Lancaster County Animal Shelter a little 3 month old Black Labador
I named Brandy.
Brandy had a rough start but is a survivor, first she
survived not being gassed, then she was exposed to Parvo
at the Pound, although I took her to vet next day I
rescued her and got her shots, she ended up with Parvo,
night before taking her to the vet she was throwing up
and blood stools, I gave her pepto bismol to stop the
throwing up and slow the dirreahea down, so she would
not get dehydrated and fed her water, dehydration can
kill a puppy faster than the parvo. Well took her to
the vet she stayed two days, she made it.. she is growing
leaps and bounds, and is such a sweet girl and loves
me and wants to know my every move.
